Severance Season 3’s ‘Much Sooner’ Return Teased by Adam Scott

Adam Scott shared some exciting news with fans: they won’t have to wait another three years for the next season of the show.

I was so excited to hear Scott say on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet that the team is really pushing to get Season 3 to us much faster! He did mention they’re working hard to cut down the wait between seasons, which is great news considering we had to wait until 2025 for Season 2 after the first season came out in 2022. It’s reassuring to know they’re thinking about the fans and trying to get things done as quickly as possible!

Adam Scott Teases Severance Season 3 Begins Shooting ‘Very Soon’

Scott also revealed that filming will begin “very soon.” He didn’t share any other details, explaining that revealing too much would ruin the surprise.

In the show Severance, Scott plays Mark, a former history professor who now works at Lumon Industries. The company uses a procedure called ‘severance’ that divides employees’ memories, creating distinct work and personal lives. This results in two versions of each worker: an ‘innie’ who only knows the world inside the office, and an ‘outie’ who lives a normal life with no memory of their job.

Besides Scott, the main cast of Severance features Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Sarah Bock. Season two welcomed new actors like Gwendoline Christie (from Game of Thrones), Sandra Bernhard, and John Noble.

Even though it’s only been on for two seasons with nineteen episodes, Severance has quickly become a critical success, leaving viewers eager for the next installment. The show has already received an impressive 41 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and Britt Lower won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Severance Season 3 Sees a Major Shakeup That Could Expedite Episodes

Apple TV reportedly purchased the rights to the show Severance from Fifth Season, the company that made the first two seasons, in February 2026. The deal was worth around $70 million, and it allows Apple to produce the third season themselves. Based on recent comments from those involved, Apple seems determined to continue the success of this popular series.

Now that Severance has become a critical and popular success, it’s understandable why Apple TV wants to fully take over the show. Severance is a visually stunning series with a complex story and large-scale sets, which required a significant budget for its first two seasons – a budget largely covered by Fifth Season. Reports indicate Apple TV, already contributing financially, decided to acquire full ownership to ensure the show’s continued production and long-term success.

Severance Season 3 does not have a release date at this time.
