I thought a large castle with 29 rooms would help us avoid drama during this cast trip, but it looks like I was wrong. In the latest episode, Alicia starts a conversation, telling someone they seem upset and are making a frustrated face. The surprising reveal? She’s actually talking to one of her dolls!
The episode starts with a funny moment of Kelsey trying to talk with a mouthful of toothpaste. Then, the women gather for breakfast, where Alicia is raving about the yogurt, claiming it was so good she almost cried – a first, apparently, for yogurt praise. Meanwhile, Rosie reveals she was sick during the night, but Ashley was distracted by what she thought was ghostly giggling. Honestly, if I were a ghost, a Real Housewives trip would be my haunt of choice, so Ashley’s story feels believable. The conversation also leads to a surprisingly sweet confession from Alicia: she simply can’t pronounce the word “ghosts,” even when reminded about the plural ‘s’!
During a discussion about Rosie and Kelsey’s argument from the previous night, something unexpected happened. Ashley started crying – as she’s prone to do – but this time, she was crying for Rosie. It reminded me of the iconic scene in Mean Girls where the girl cries at the assembly even though she’s new to the school. It was so strange that Jo-Ellen actually looked directly at the camera, and I instantly connected with her through the screen because we were both completely baffled.
Jo-Ellen and Alicia spent some time together in town, and during their outing, they began to share difficult experiences from their childhoods. Alicia, who had known Jo-Ellen’s family for years, was shocked to learn the details of what Jo-Ellen had gone through. She remembered Jo-Ellen and her sister occasionally disappearing, but the town never really talked about it. It turned out those absences were due to Jo-Ellen’s mother sending her to a program meant for young criminals—simply because she was developing physically and attracting attention from boys. Her mother only brought her home when the state threatened to take custody, an event that deeply affected Jo-Ellen.
The film touches on Alicia’s past, revealing a poignant reason behind her reluctance to get married – the absence of a father figure to walk her down the aisle. What really resonated with me, though, was seeing Alicia and Jo-Ellen connect over their shared experiences as mothers. They both deeply feel the weight of their upbringing and are determined not to repeat the patterns of their parents with their own children. It’s a genuinely moving and emotional scene, and I was relieved the ghostly interruptions didn’t ruin it.
Rulla attempts to explain why she’s been away, claiming she’s sick. Jo-Ellen, who notices everything, points out this has happened before. While Brian brings her breakfast in bed – even though she’s fully made up – Rulla describes exactly what she’s been feeling.
She had a terrible headache, couldn’t speak or walk, and needed an ambulance to the emergency room. It’s unclear why this happened. Some wonder if it’s related to her reluctance to discuss her husband’s infidelity, suggesting a specialized Rhode Island team might be involved. Doctors ran tests like MRIs and bloodwork, but couldn’t find a clear cause, even jokingly speculating it could be a mysterious, unclassifiable illness – perhaps simply a refusal to film.
Back at the castle, the younger women and Liz enjoyed the inflatable water slide. However, things got awkward when Boris, the butler, joined in and removed his shirt. Liz decided to leave, and it was the first time the show really highlighted the age difference between the cast members. Liz, 56, felt uncomfortable on the slide, playfully interacting with a 23-year-old while surrounded by younger women. While age gaps can sometimes feel forced in reality TV, the strong connections within this cast managed to make it work.
During an afternoon boat trip, another problem arises. Ashley has to leave quickly in a small inflatable boat after learning her sick son is being rushed to the emergency room. She’s understandably upset and cries, and she isn’t the only one feeling distressed.
Alicia wonders what’s really bothering her. “It’s the crackers – they’re all the way over there, and I absolutely love them!” I find her genuine affection for “crackers” fascinating, especially how natural it feels. On a more established show, constantly talking about them might seem like a forced bit for attention or a way to get sponsored. But this is only the first season, so she doesn’t realize people have really latched onto the term and that “crackers” has become a running joke. She’s just expressing her sincere enjoyment.”
The conversation unexpectedly shifted when Kelsey offhandedly mentioned she’d heard Jo-Ellen had a threesome with her ex. Jo-Ellen quickly corrected this, clarifying it happened on land, not a boat – a truly iconic moment! We also learned Jo-Ellen had previously dated the brother of Kelsey’s ex. When asked who was better in bed, Jo-Ellen playfully deferred the question to Kelsey. It’s a complicated situation, to say the least!
The episode ends with a truly dramatic moment. Jo-Ellen is on the castle terrace, bathed in candlelight, when she reads a shocking text message. Earlier, Rulla said she wanted proof if her husband was cheating – and Jo-Ellen just got it. It took eight seasons of RHONY to deliver a scene like this, but here we are! Now, Jo-Ellen and Liz need to decide what to do with the information. They immediately show the video to everyone. It wasn’t the most strategic decision, but it felt necessary.
Rosie’s gasp was so loud it felt like she’d sucked all the air out of the room. The video – showing Brian in a very close embrace with another woman – was filmed just two days before that infamous polo match. It includes kissing, hugging, and intimate touching, and you can even see the red leather interior of Brian’s car. But everyone’s hesitant to tell Rulla. Liz worries the information would be dismissed if it came from her, and Rulla wouldn’t believe anything Jo-Ellen said, so everyone’s avoiding the task, and all eyes are now on Alicia to spill the beans.
That would definitely be the most hilarious messenger, without a doubt. She was so anxious even asking Liz about the affair that her note for the game wasn’t even a proper sentence! I can only picture how awkward it’ll be watching her try to bring it up to Rulla while they’re eating pizza chips. But will Rulla actually listen, or will she just make up another excuse? We can only find out if we can get Rulla and her cast to agree to film it.
