In 2022, the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners quickly became a hit on Netflix. While set in the same world as the video game Cyberpunk 2077, it featured a fresh story and new characters. The series follows David, a young man who turns to a life of mercenary work as an ‘Edgerunner’ after experiencing a personal loss. Alongside a diverse crew, Edgerunners offered a new perspective on Night City and the dark side of its technology-driven society.
Because Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became so popular, a second season was quickly approved and announced in July 2025. However, fans won’t have to wait that long, as there’s something else coming soon to enjoy.
The popular open-world game Wuthering Waves recently announced a collaboration with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Launched in 2024 by Kuro Games, Wuthering Waves aimed to blend “new and old civilizations,” drawing inspiration from games like Death Stranding. It quickly became a leading gacha game, alongside titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, making this collaboration with a major franchise a natural step.
A recent social media post for Wuthering Waves announced an upcoming collaboration with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, playfully inviting players to “wander with me through the ever-unceasing dream.” A trailer revealed the new content, most notably the arrival of David, Lucy, and Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as playable characters. Fans were excited by the characters’ faithful anime-inspired designs and shared their enthusiasm in the comments.
Seriously, this looks amazing! I was really happy to see David show up at the end, too. And both Lucy and Rebecca? Their models are spot-on! Honestly, it feels like this is going to be totally worth waiting for. I’m already planning to spend a ton of money to get everything for my Edgerunner girls.
Okay, so from what I’ve gathered, we’re getting both Lucy and Rebecca as playable characters, which is awesome! David’s role is still a mystery, but I’m really hoping this means we’ll finally get to take him and Lucy on a trip to the moon! And get this – the official Wuthering Waves Twitter just announced Rebecca will be a free 5-Star Resonator! Seriously, free! That’s a huge win for all of us.
