ZA/UM has released a new ‘features & gameplay trailer‘ for Zero Parades: For Dead Spies.
The trailer showcases the game’s 15 unique skills, and introduces the three key attributes players will manage – Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium – which impact how Hershel experiences and interacts with the game world. It also offers glimpses of character conversations, dice-based challenges, spy tools, and other gameplay elements.
The PC version of Zero Parades: For Dead Spies will be available on Steam starting May 21st. A version for PlayStation 5 is planned to be released later in 2024. Recently, ZA/UM released a character trailer showcasing the game’s cast, known as the ‘Whole Sick Crew’.
Just two weeks before its release, a new trailer showcases the gameplay and features of Zero Parades: For Dead Spies. The trailer gives players a better understanding of how skills, character development, challenging situations, and the stress of being a spy combine to create a unique, psychedelic RPG experience, all within the vibrant city of Portofiro.
Siim “Kosmos” Sinamäe, the principal writer for Zero Parades and a writer on Disco Elysium, explains that the game’s mechanics should serve the story, rather than the other way around. He notes that many games use narrative simply to explain how the gameplay works. Their approach, however, is to create gameplay features that enhance the story, making things like a character’s thoughts or espionage activities visible to the player. He describes this as a natural progression from their work on Disco Elysium, building on that experience with new ideas and evolving the classic computer role-playing game (cRPG) concept.
Hershel Wilk, known as Cascade, is a former spy who’s seen better days. Five years after a devastating failure that destroyed her spy network, she returns to the city of Portofiro. Haunted by the past, she’s determined to reunite her old team for one final mission.
In Zero Parades, players sent to the city of Portofiro will unravel its mysteries, as well as the hidden agendas of powerful nations and the very nature of reality. The game delivers a compelling and emotionally resonant story about damaged relationships and what it means to be human. Unlike many games, failure isn’t final—every setback creates new opportunities and paths to explore.
What Kind of Spy Will You Be?
This game blends classic RPG elements with a unique system where you choose from three starting characters or create your own. You’ll develop skills in areas like action, relationships, and intellect – with fifteen skills total – and shape the main character’s personality through a process called Conditioning. Your choices will determine whether you succeed or become a warning to others.
Being a spy is incredibly stressful, and the game reflects this through three key challenges: Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium. These aren’t just story elements; they’re core to how you play as Hershel. Managing these pressures while on a mission is extremely difficult, and sometimes pushing yourself to the limit is actually necessary. Players can even intentionally increase these pressures to improve their chances of succeeding at important tasks.
Zero Parades: For Dead Spies will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on May 21, 2026, for $39.99. A PlayStation 5 version is planned for release later in 2026. The game is confirmed to be Steam Deck Verified and will also be available to stream on GeForce NOW from day one.
