The RPG Sunny Trails, developed and published by Plot Interactive, is a turn-based game that feels similar to the Final Fantasy series, but with a unique twist: it’s designed to be a cozy experience. Players can expect challenging but not overly difficult combat, all presented with a bright and eye-catching cartoon art style.
Sunny Trails offers relaxing and charming activities, letting you connect with villagers on a beautifully recreated, magical version of Florianópolis, Brazil. You can enjoy classic cozy life sim elements like fishing, cooking, collecting, and building a campsite. It feels similar to the Animal Crossing series in these ways, and its unique art style and playful atmosphere also bring to mind the Adventure Time cartoon.
Although Sunny Trails shares some elements with other games, it still has a unique feel. The game tells the story of three Japanese goddesses – Amaterasu, Susanoo, and Tsukuyomi – as they journey to Florianópolis for a worldwide gathering of deities. The city is ready for the celebration, but all the other gods and goddesses are mysteriously missing, having been turned to stone.
I was really impressed with this game after seeing it played live at the Abragames booth during Gamescom LATAM 2026 – we even got to try out Phantom Blade Zero and Marvel Tōkon at the event!
