FIFA President Gianni Infantino made a lighthearted comment about personally bringing a “hot dog and Coke” to anyone who spends $2 million on a ticket to the World Cup final, responding to ongoing complaints about the high ticket prices.
Fans are upset about ticket prices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with some listings for the final match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey going for as much as $2.3 million.
At the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained that the organization’s ticket prices are set to match the typical costs of entertainment events in the United States.
He jokingly offered to personally deliver a hot dog and Coke to anyone who purchased a $2 million ticket, as reported by the BBC.

FIFA president blames resale market for high World Cup ticket prices
The FIFA president explained that event organizers need to consider the US ticket resale market, where tickets are legally sold at significantly inflated prices.
He pointed out that selling tickets at low prices could lead to them being quickly purchased by resellers who would then inflate the prices significantly.
He explained that just because someone lists tickets for the final at a price of $2 million doesn’t mean they’re actually worth that much, or that anyone will actually pay it.
He pointed out that selling tickets at low prices could lead to them being quickly purchased by resellers who would then inflate the prices significantly.

We need to consider current market conditions. Since we operate in the world’s most advanced entertainment market, we have to use standard industry pricing.
He explained that reselling tickets is legal in the US, and often, even if tickets are initially sold at a low price, they’re quickly resold for much more. In fact, he pointed out that even though some people complain about their ticket prices, those same tickets frequently appear on the resale market for more than double the original cost.
The 2026 World Cup will be played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, culminating in the final match at MetLife Stadium on July 19th.
FIFA states that 25% of tickets for the initial group games cost less than $300. However, fan organizations have complained that the overall expense of going to the tournament is too high.
Parking at the games won’t be cheap. For popular matches in Los Angeles, like the USA versus Paraguay game, parking is listed at $300, and even less prominent games, such as Iran versus New Zealand, are going for $250.
FIFA explained that parking costs are set according to local rates and are similar to those charged at other big events in the host cities.
Spending $300 on parking seems insignificant when you’re already spending $2 million to go to the World Cup finals and have luxuries like a personal hot dog delivery from the FIFA president.
For most people, the best option is probably just grabbing a hot dog and a drink at Costco for $1.50 and enjoying the game from the comfort of your own home.
