2026 has been a fantastic year for fans of slasher films. Following the huge success of Scream 7, another sequel has also become very popular.
The follow-up film, released seven years after the first one in 2019, was both a financial success and well-received by critics and audiences. It quickly became popular after its initial release in theaters, becoming a hit within just one day.
As a horror fan, I was really excited to see that Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is killing it! It hit number one on the Amazon TV Store charts here in the US, and stayed there as of May 7th. It’s actually the top movie in Sweden right now, which is awesome, and it’s also showing up on the charts in places like the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands. Now, over on the standard Amazon digital store, it’s not quite as high – it’s currently at number 22 in the US, ninth in Canada, and fourth in Australia, but still doing pretty well overall!
What Happens in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come?
I absolutely loved discovering Ready or Not back in 2019! It’s directed by the fantastic team Radio Silence – Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – and the premise is so wild. It centers around a bride who quickly realizes her wedding night is going to be a lot more than she bargained for. Her new in-laws, a super wealthy and eccentric family, hunt her as part of this bizarre tradition. Apparently, it’s all to lift a curse and ensure the family’s survival, but it makes for a seriously thrilling and darkly funny horror movie!
The original movie was a huge success, earning over $57 million despite costing only $6 million to make. News of a follow-up came in March 2024, and filming officially began in October, with the same directors (Radio Silence) and star, Samara Weaving, returning for the project.
Okay, so Ready or Not 2: Here I Come doesn’t mess around with a time jump – it picks up right where the first movie left off. We see Grace recovering in the hospital and finally reconnecting with her sister, which is great. But that relief is short-lived. Turns out, taking down the Le Domas family really ruffled some feathers with a powerful group called the Council – six families who are even more dangerous. And naturally, they decide to initiate another terrifying, life-or-death game. It’s a direct continuation, and things escalate fast.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Was a Major Hit
The second movie cost $14 million to make, but it earned $42.2 million worldwide – three times its cost. This meant it easily made back its money and turned a profit.
The sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, was also well-received, earning a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating of 74% from critics and a remarkable 90% audience score. This audience approval is higher than the original Ready or Not‘s 78%, though the first film had a stronger critical score of 89% ‘Certified Fresh’.
Like most films, this one includes extra content such as interviews with the cast and crew, glimpses behind the scenes, funny outtakes, and scenes that didn’t make the final cut.
In addition to Grace, played by Weaving, the cast of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come includes Kathryn Newton, Shawn Hatosy, David Cronenberg, and Elijah Wood.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is available to rent or purchase on all digital platforms.
