Pizza shop defends viral $40 cheese pizza and it’s not because they want to “get rich”

A popular New York pizza place recently explained the reason behind their $40 cheese pizza price – and it’s not about making a huge profit.

Recently, many restaurants have started offering elevated versions of traditionally inexpensive foods. These creative updates often go viral online, generating both excitement and criticism from the public.

Ceres Pizza in New York is getting attention for its expensive pies. A large, 20-inch cheese pizza costs $40, and their spicy Nduja pizza of the same size is even pricier at $68. It’s definitely not an affordable option!

The pizza place appeared on a First We Feast YouTube video with Adam Richman, where the owners explained why their food is priced higher than average. But they assure customers it’s not about maximizing profits.

Ceres Pizza owner defends $40 cheese pizza

Jacob Serebnick, owner of Ceres, explained to the former host of Man vs Food that they’ve received criticism about their prices, and still do. He said they simply make a 20-inch pizza using the highest quality ingredients available, and those ingredients are very expensive.

It wasn’t just the cost, but also the effort of coordinating everything and everyone involved. A lot of people seem to think our big plan was simply to make money by selling cheap pizzas, but that’s not true.

We didn’t open a pizza shop to become wealthy. We prioritized quality over profit, and looking back, that was the right choice.

Ceres Pizza also doesn’t offer slices, so you have to buy a whole pie if you want to try it.

Cento Fine Foods isn’t the only company facing issues. They’re currently being sued for over $25 million, with customers claiming they were misled about the quality of the tomatoes they purchased – a case some are calling ‘tomato fraud’.

Okay, so Prego, yeah, the sauce people, are getting some serious heat right now. Apparently, they tried to launch some kind of device that listens to what you’re saying while you’re eating dinner and records it. Super creepy, right? I can’t believe they thought that was a good idea!
