1988 MSX version of Deep Dungeon gets a port on Nintendo Switch via EGG Console

D4 Enterprise is slowly rolling out a Nintendo Switch version of their classic game, Deep Dungeon. This new version is based on the original 1988 release for the MSX and will be available for $6.49 on Nintendo eShops around the world, including in the United States.

Modern Windows PCs can also play this game for free through the Project EGG subscription service. However, this isn’t the game’s original release. It first appeared on the Family Computer (NES) Disc System in 1986, published by Square as part of the Disk Original Group. This role-playing game went on to become a series, with four installments released for the NES by 1990.

Below you’ll find the official trailer, details, and images for Deep Dungeon on Nintendo Switch. Like other games EGG Console has released, this version is currently only available in Japanese.

This classic MSX RPG puts you in the role of a courageous hero on a quest to save Princess Etna from a dangerous underground maze.

The once-peaceful town of Dole was now plagued by monsters lurking in its basement. King Oberon called upon the hero, Lue, to eliminate the creatures. Armed with the legendary armor, shield, and sword passed down through generations of heroes, Lue ventured into the darkness below with two companions.

Released in 1988, this classic RPG puts you in the role of a courageous hero tasked with rescuing Princess Etna from a dark dungeon. To succeed, you’ll need to get funds from the King, purchase equipment in the Town of Doll, and then brave the treacherous labyrinth.

The dungeon is filled with enemies, and battles are turn-based, so strategic thinking is key. The game features immersive 3D exploration, but the labyrinth is complex and easy to get lost in – drawing a map as you go is highly recommended.

Will you be able to save Princess Etna? And what mysteries await at the very bottom of the dungeon…?
