Cillian Murphy is producing two new seasons of Peaky Blinders

As the Peaky Blinders movie is about to be released, the BBC has revealed that they are creating two more seasons of the TV series. Cillian Murphy, who was a main actor in the original show, will also be an executive producer for these new seasons.

Peaky Blinders first aired on BBC 2 in September 2013. The show’s blend of drama, violence, political intrigue, and mature themes, set in post-WWI Birmingham, really resonated with both critics and viewers, rapidly becoming a worldwide success.

I was totally hooked on Peaky Blinders, especially Cillian Murphy’s performance as Thomas Shelby, the head of the gang. It was amazing that the show ran for six seasons and finally ended in 2022. But I’m so excited to hear that the Shelby family story isn’t over! They’re coming back in a movie called The Immortal Man in 2026. I can’t wait! You can find more information about the film here.

Fans will soon meet a new set of characters in a follow-up series taking place in the 1950s, which will span two seasons.

New Peaky Blinders to introduce fresh crop of Shelbys

It’s currently unclear whether Cillian Murphy will be in future seasons. This depends on whether his character, Tommy, survives the events of the movie, which hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, the Oppenheimer star is still involved as an executive producer. Steven Knight, the show’s creator and showrunner, will once again be in charge of the production.

Here’s the official description of the show: “It’s 1953 in Britain. Birmingham is being rebuilt with concrete and steel after suffering heavy damage during World War II, striving for a brighter future.”

A new chapter in Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders begins as a fierce battle erupts over Birmingham’s large-scale rebuilding efforts. It’s a time of incredible chances and serious risks, and the Shelby family finds themselves at the very center of all the violence and ambition.

Knight shared his excitement about the future of the Peaky Blinders, stating: “I’m thrilled to announce this next part of the Peaky Blinders story. It will once again be set in Birmingham and focus on the city’s recovery after the bombing during the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of the Shelby family is now in charge, and it’s going to be an incredible journey.”

We don’t have a release date for the two new seasons just yet, but they will be shown on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Viewers worldwide will be able to watch them on Netflix.
