HBO’s New 8-Part Hit Comedy Returns to the Charts Ahead of Season 2

HBO Max is seeing a lot of love for Rachel Sennott’s comedy series! It’s back in the Top 10 most-watched shows on the streaming service as fans eagerly await the premiere of its second season.

I’ve been noticing that I Love LA is doing really well on HBO Max – it’s currently the ninth most popular show in the US, according to FlixPatrol! It’s kind of surprising to see it back in the Top 10, especially since we haven’t heard any recent news about season two being made.

I Love LA Is Returning for a Second Season on HBO

HBO renewed the comedy series shortly after its debut, on November 20, 2025. Amy Gravitt, Head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Series, issued a statement praising the show, along with another series, The Chair Company, which also received a renewal.

Gravitt expressed excitement about the positive reception to the premieres of The Chair Company and I Love LA. They noted that both shows successfully continue HBO’s history of great comedy, each with its own unique style. Gravitt also shared their pleasure in continuing to work with Tim, Zach, Rachel, and their talented teams.

The first season of I Love LA drew an average of 1.8 million viewers per episode. Warner Bros. Discovery announced in December that the show was one of the quickest-growing comedies on HBO Max. This success is a bit unexpected considering its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is only 57%. However, critics gave it a strong rating, with a ‘Fresh’ certification of 87% based on 45 reviews.

As a film buff, I recently checked out I Love LA, and it’s a really fun watch! It centers around a group of friends who are super reliant on each other as they try to figure out life and love in Los Angeles. The creator, Sennott, also stars as Maia, an assistant hoping to make it as a talent manager. Things get interesting when Maia’s best friend, Tallulah – a total whirlwind of an influencer – comes back to LA, and Maia decides to manage her and turn her into the next big thing.

In addition to Megan Sennott, the cast of I Love LA includes Josh Hutcherson as Maia’s boyfriend Dylan, Odessa A’zion as social media influencer Tallulah, True Whitaker as Maia’s friend Alani, and Jordan Firstman as celebrity stylist Charlie Cohen. Season one also featured guest appearances by Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Lauren Holt, Josh Brener, Tim Baltz, Froy Gutierrez, Colin Woodell, Elijah Wood, and Quenlin Blackwell, with Wood and Blackwell playing themselves.

Odessa A’zion Has Become a Major Star Since I Love LA Season 1

I was totally hooked on I Love LA when it finished its first season on December 21st! And then, just four days later, Marty Supreme came out, and suddenly everyone knew who A’zion was! She was amazing as Rachel Mizler – playing this really complex character, a married woman having an affair with the main guy and expecting his baby. Critics loved her, and she even got nominated for an Actor Award and a British Academy Film Award, which was so well-deserved!

After Marty Supreme gained popularity, A’zion found new opportunities in her career. She was initially involved with Sean Durkin’s next project after The Iron Claw, called Deep Cuts, and also worked on the animated spin-off series, Tales from ’85.

A’zion’s growing popularity is great news for finding viewers for Season 2 of I Love LA. However, because she’s now as busy and sought-after as her co-stars, Sennott and Hutcherson, it’s proving difficult to schedule everyone for filming, which is likely why we haven’t heard much about production starting yet.

In the meantime, subscribers can stream the eight-episode first season of I Love LA on HBO Max.
