Lindsay Hubbard Has Been Activated for a Month

Before Amanda, Ciara, and West joined the cast, Summer House really revolved around Lindsay Hubbard – and it still does, in many ways. As one of only three original cast members still on the show full-time, Hubbard quickly became a key part of what made Summer House so entertaining, from her dramatic fights over simple things like sandwiches to her warnings to boyfriends. But now that the original cast members are growing up and starting families, the idea of sharing a summer house doesn’t quite fit anymore. While fans hoped Bravo would add Hubbard to the Real Housewives of New York City, the network is instead creating a new spinoff, In the City, starring Hubbard, Kyle Cook, and Amanda Batula. This shows how valuable Hubbard is to the show – instead of letting her move on, Bravo is building a new show around her.

When did I realize I’d achieved success? Actually, I’m realizing it right now, in this very moment.

You know, people always ask what I splurge on when I first start earning. Honestly, I’m not much for flashy purchases. I ended up buying a car – a Kia, actually. It was really about finding something safe and reliable for my daughter, and that was the priority.

If I had to describe my on-screen character in just five words, I’d say ‘activated,’ ‘sandwiches,’ and ‘direct.’ It’s hard to pin down, but I think ‘you never know what you’re going to get’ really captures it.

Looking back on my career, a few moments really stand out. One that comes to mind is when my character said the line ‘activated’ – it was a pretty memorable scene where I was playfully arguing with an ex-boyfriend, mostly just ranting about sandwiches while a little tipsy. Honestly, a lot of my work involves passionately voicing my opinions to male characters.

You know, if I could travel back in time and tweak a scene from something I’ve been in, I honestly wouldn’t. I believe in learning from any mistakes or difficult moments, and either working to fix things or just letting them play out. It’s all part of the journey, you know?

Have you ever felt like viewers didn’t quite understand you? I think I’m a really loyal friend to other women, and that’s all I’ll say about it.

If you could magically trade lives with someone on a reality TV show today, who would it be? For me, I’m happy where I am in life and with my career. Instead of switching places with anyone, I’d rather start focusing on becoming a host.

Do you have a nemesis? I don’t care enough to hate anyone.

Everyone wonders which reality TV stars are genuine on camera, and which ones are playing a role. Kyle seems to be the most authentic, but there are plenty of others who seem very different from their on-screen personalities.

Does every successful reality TV show need someone to play the bad guy? It’s common to switch roles – sometimes you’re seen as the villain, sometimes the victim, and sometimes the hero. If you’re on a reality show long enough, you’ll likely experience all of those perspectives.

People often forget I used to work as a publicist, handling events and being around celebrities – I was very comfortable in that world. So, what do I miss from before I became famous? Probably not the gossip columns like DeuxMoi, although I was actually featured in Page Six even before I was on television.

So, you want to be a reality TV star? My advice is simple: just be yourself! Be genuine and real. You’ll definitely have fans and critics, but the key is to take it all in stride and not let it bother you.

If I could pick any two reality TV stars to join me on The Traitors, I’d choose myself, though probably not as a Traitor from the start. Maybe later in the game! I’m terrible at lying, which explains my limited TV career. Aside from that, I’m really curious to see how Andy Cohen would handle being in that situation.

Filming ‘In the City’ felt very different compared to ‘Summer House’. ‘Summer House’ is filmed on weekends in the Hamptons, it’s pretty relaxed with parties and a lot of cameras around. ‘In the City’ is filmed more like a typical Bravo show, focusing on our everyday lives and the big decisions we’re making. It took me about a month to adjust – I had to completely rethink how I filmed after ten seasons of ‘Summer House’.

I’ve been thinking about when to let my daughter watch my shows. She’s sixteen months old, but acts much older! I was watching Summer House recently, and she noticed me on screen, saying “Mama!” I figured, why not? She doesn’t watch kids’ shows anyway, so she might as well watch what I’m watching.

As a huge reality TV fan, I’ve been thinking about what really makes a reunion special. Honestly, I think it boils down to the same things that make the show good in the first place! You need all the classic elements: the drama, the arguments, and even the eventual patching up. Ideally, I want to see everyone finally air their grievances, but ultimately leave things in a better place. A good reunion should be satisfying and end on a hopeful note.

What recently sparked your interest or energy? Honestly, quite a bit has been motivating me lately. For the past month, I’ve felt energized from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep.
