Honestly, it feels like everything is just getting more and more expensive lately. I was already bummed when Microsoft increased the prices on Xbox consoles and accessories, and then they hit us with another price increase in the same year! Sony’s been doing the same thing with PlayStation, and it’s honestly a little scary thinking about how much the next generation of consoles might cost. And with the games themselves getting pricier, I thought subscriptions were the best way to get some value. That is, until Game Pass suddenly jumped up in price – it really came out of nowhere. Luckily, GameStop still has some older vouchers in stock, so it’s a smart move to snag them and redeem them before they’re gone.
This might be the last chance to get Game Pass Ultimate at the old price
The cost of Game Pass has been steadily increasing over time. In July 2023, the Ultimate tier cost $16.99, and by September 2024, that price rose to $19.99. Recently, as of October 2025, there’s been a significant price increase – it now costs $29.99 per month, which is around the same price as many smaller video games.
Here’s some good news: GameStop is helping us out! They’ve still got some older vouchers for $19.99 available, and you can purchase them online or at a store.
I was wondering how GameStop could sell Game Pass Ultimate so cheaply, and it turns out it’s pretty straightforward! They buy a massive amount of vouchers in bulk at a fixed price. The cool thing is, even if Microsoft raises the subscription price later on, those older codes still work until Microsoft eventually stops supporting them. Basically, when you redeem a code, the system just adjusts it to the current subscription value. It’s a really smart way for them to offer a deal!
The reality is, Microsoft typically stops accepting older vouchers when they update their pricing or subscription levels. So, this offer won’t be available indefinitely. The codes are perfectly valid as long as they work, but if you get one, it’s best to use it immediately. Holding onto them isn’t recommended, as Microsoft might stop accepting them in the near future.
