Ten years after the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls, A Day in the Life, sparked debate about who Rory’s baby’s father was, Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes, finally offered a straightforward answer. He discussed it during a recent interview on MIKE on Fox29, putting the question to rest.
Scott Patterson Settles Rory’s Best Option
He explained his current take on choosing between Logan, Dean, and Jess by saying he prefers to look at it realistically. He imagined each of them married to her with two ten-year-old children and concluded that, in his opinion, all three of them would likely be unfaithful.
In the divorce, she’ll likely benefit most from being with Logan because she’s expected to receive a significant amount of money. It’s also a way for her to get back at Mitchum Huntsberger, who really damaged her self-assurance as a journalist.
The actor also talked about why Gilmore Girls remained so popular even years after it ended. He said that original fans started watching the show with their kids and introduced it to new people, and many would bring their families to meet the cast at conventions.
Patterson confessed he didn’t even want to watch the show when it first came out. He explained that after working on it constantly – comparing it to spending 14 hours a day making sausage – he simply lost interest in experiencing the finished product. It was like not wanting to eat something you’d been preparing for so long.
He mentioned the extensive time commitment and later confessed to listening to the show as a podcast himself. He really enjoyed it, saying he finally understood the buzz from fans and describing it as funny, charming, heartwarming, unique, and creatively bold.

Like many shows with several potential partners, fans are constantly debating which character was best for Rory. Many believe Jess was at his best during their initial romance, and his later reappearance while married ultimately hurt their chances. Milo Ventimiglia’s portrayal of Jess remains popular with fans, though others argue that Matt Czuchry’s Logan challenged Rory to grow and step outside her comfort zone.
