DisguisedToast has discussed the controversy surrounding Sykkuno and alleged cheating, explaining he believed most viewers understood Sykkuno’s ‘shy anime boy’ image wasn’t genuine.
Starting in mid-April, popular Twitch streamer Sykkuno became involved in a significant controversy after being accused of cheating on his girlfriend with several other people. He and his partner later released a statement acknowledging infidelity, but also disputing overly harsh characterizations of his actions.
The news quickly spread throughout the streaming community, and many popular creators began sharing their thoughts. Toast, a frequent collaborator with Sykkuno during the peak of the Among Us craze in 2020, recently discussed the situation on his podcast, “We Were Fighting Before This.”
DisguisedToast speaks on Sykkuno persona
Toast mentioned being shocked by how many people were reportedly involved and how much cheating was alleged, but he wasn’t surprised to learn that Sykkuno’s online personality differed from his real-life one.
Toast mentioned being surprised others didn’t realize the ‘UwU shy anime boy’ persona isn’t realistic. He added that it wasn’t particularly shocking to him, considering the person in question is a grown man in his thirties.
Toast shared an old video of himself playfully teasing Sykkuno, telling him to stop pretending and predicting people would eventually realize his true self. This clip recently reappeared online during the cheating controversy, and fans have compared Toast to the character L from Death Note, suggesting he had a feeling about the situation a long time ago.
Toast explained that the reveal wasn’t shocking like discovering a hidden dark side, comparing it to finding out Mr. Rogers had vices. Instead, it was simply realizing this person wasn’t actually the quiet, anime-loving character they’d presented themselves to be.
Toast explained that when he and other content creators voiced their concerns about Sykkuno’s on-screen personality, Sykkuno’s fans frequently responded with hostility.
Honestly, whenever anyone called him out online, his fans would go wild. I seriously lost track of how many times I got attacked by them just for treating him like a grown-up. It was crazy!
Okay, so Toast was saying that Sykkuno really played up the ‘single’ thing, even with his friends, and honestly, it bummed a lot of fans out. They genuinely thought the image he was putting out online was real, and it’s kinda sad to see that wasn’t the case.
Yvonnie discussed her relationship with Sykkuno on the podcast, explaining that she initially had a crush on him when they began playing Among Us. However, she felt he changed over time, becoming inconsiderate both in the game and towards others, which led her to distance herself.
She didn’t think Sykkuno’s apology was good enough, and it actually made her feel less sympathetic towards him. She felt his vague denial of wrongdoing was too open to different understandings and didn’t fully address the accusations.
Toast advised Sykkuno to disconnect from the internet, take a break from the public eye, and privately work things out with his girlfriend if they both want to try and fix their relationship.
I was so relieved to hear that Sykkuno and his girlfriend are still trying to make things work! She actually shared that she’s staying with him because she really wants to fix their relationship, which is amazing to hear. It’s good they’re both willing to put in the effort.
