He’s been incredibly busy juggling his Broadway show with work on several movies. His latest film is now performing very well on digital streaming services.
The new movie, They Will Hit You, came out in theaters on March 27th, but didn’t get much attention because it was released at the same time as the sequel to Ready or Not. However, according to FlixPatrol, They Will Hit You is already finding an audience on digital platforms, just one day after its theatrical release.
The horror film They Will Kill You launched digitally on August 28th and quickly climbed to fourth place in the U.S. Apple TV store the next day. While it moved to fifth place in the U.S. shortly after, the film saw gains in other regions, reaching tenth place in both Australia and Canada, and improving from eighth to fifth place in Italy. A physical release is planned for June 30th, offering the film in 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD formats.

“They Will Kill You” is a wild, fast-paced horror-comedy filled with action and gore. Asia Reaves finds herself trapped in the terrifying lair of a demonic cult called the Virgil, and she must survive the night to avoid becoming their next sacrifice. Expect over-the-top kills and a darkly funny, larger-than-life showdown.
The digital release includes extra content like a behind-the-scenes look at how the movie was made, a feature on the creation of the memorable location, The Virgil, and a look at key scenes and stunts. It also highlights the intense moments that were achieved using puppets and practical effects.
The film They Will Kill You features Zazie Beetz (known for Deadpool 2) in the main role, alongside Patricia Arquette, Myha’la, Paterson Joseph, and Heather Graham.
As a huge movie fan, I was really intrigued to see Kirill Sokolov – the director of No Looking Back – back with a new film, They Will Kill You. He teamed up with Alex Litvak on the script, and it’s fantastic to see the creative minds behind IT – Andy and Barbara Muschietti – also producing. It’s a great combination of talent!
They Will Kill You Had Divisive Reviews
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the slasher film They Will Kill You didn’t get the attention it deserved. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 64% rating based on 162 reviews, praising its stylish visuals and gothic atmosphere, but noting that its repeating structure can become predictable. However, they highlighted Zazie Beetz’s strong performance as a key element that makes the violent scenes entertaining.
Viewers generally liked the film, giving it an approval rating of 77% and highlighting Zazie Beetz’s performance, along with its enjoyable gore. Despite this positive reception, the movie only earned $18.9 million globally, falling short of its $20 million production budget, as reported by The Numbers.
Andy Muschetti explained that his films usually blend horror with comedy and emotional depth, and he aims to make audiences cry at least once. However, he emphasized that this particular project was the vision of Kiril Sokolov, and their role was simply to support and nurture his creative instincts.
