Emiru shocks Maya with $30K animal painting bid to help raise $114K for Alveus Sanctuary

Emiru, a well-known streamer and cosplayer on Twitch, spent $30,000 on a painting at an art auction benefiting Alveus Sanctuary. The auction as a whole raised $114,000 to support the wildlife refuge.

I learned about this awesome group called Alveus Sanctuary, and it’s run by Maya Higa, who you might know from Twitch. She’s a huge advocate for helping animals and teaches her viewers all about wildlife rescue and making sure animals are treated well. It’s a non-profit, so they rely on support to keep doing their important work.

This animal sanctuary gives permanent care to creatures that can’t survive on their own, but it costs a lot to provide food and maintain their habitats.

Alveus regularly supports good causes, and recently held an art auction featuring paintings created by the animals themselves! The auction was broadcast live on Maya’s Twitch channel on April 29th.

Emiru buys painting for $30K, bringing Alveus fundraiser to $114K

Each Earth Day, the Alveus Sanctuary holds an auction of artwork created by the animals who live there, and uses the money raised to fund their care.

Maya noted a record number of paintings this year, including artwork created by the animals who work at the Alveus habitat.

One painting featured Cossie, a serval (a wildcat from Africa) who recently joined the Alveus sanctuary this April.

I was watching Maya’s stream and it was incredible! She painted this amazing piece herself, and decided to auction it off at the end of her four-hour session. It started at just $1,000, but the bidding went crazy fast! It quickly jumped to $25,000, and then Emiru, another Twitch streamer, won it with a final bid of $30,000! I couldn’t believe how much it went for!

The auction was a huge success, bringing in more than $114,000 for Alveus Sanctuary, which completely surprised Maya and the other hosts.

“I can’t thank everyone enough,” Maya exclaimed. “This art auction was absolutely incredible – truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The team at Alveus created stunning portraits of all our ambassadors this year. They really went above and beyond… it’s just unbelievable!”

Alveus’s recent fundraising campaign was a huge success, bringing in $1 million in October 2025 to support their wolf conservation and research efforts. The campaign gained significant attention online.
