Fans first learned about Monster Hunter Outlanders, the newest game in the Monster Hunter series, in 2024. This game is different from previous mobile Monster Hunter titles; it’s not a creature-collecting game like Pokemon Go. Instead, it’s an action RPG where players can join forces to battle both new and classic monsters. A second Closed Beta Test begins on April 29th, giving many players their first chance to try out the upcoming free-to-play game.
If you signed up for the Monster Hunter Outlanders Closed Beta, check your email to see if you’ve been chosen to play! This beta will give you a first look at the new Monster Hunter mobile game. Unlike the first test, you’ll be able to share your experiences and impressions. Even if you weren’t selected, you’ll soon get a good idea of what to expect from Outlanders as others share their gameplay. Here’s a summary of what’s known so far.
Monster Hunter Outlanders Closed Beta Dates & How to Participate

The second closed beta test for Monster Hunter Outlanders starts at 10 PM Eastern Time on April 28th. If you signed up, check your email to see if you were selected! Registration is still open as of today, but it might close once the beta begins.
If you signed up for the beta, check your email soon for instructions on how to get started. You’ll find details on installing the game and accessing your temporary account. What to Expect from the Monster Hunter Outlanders Closed Beta

Here’s a rundown of what you can expect in the latest beta test, for anyone eager to jump in or learn more. Players will get to explore the world of Aesoland, specifically two different areas within it.
New Adventurer Roles
In this test, players can build teams of four by recruiting Adventurers to fight with their main character. This update introduces three new types of Adventurers to choose from:
- Assault – high damage dealer/tank characters
- Disruptor – controls monsters & deals out debuffs
- Support – buffs, heals, and rescues allies
The beta test will feature two different characters for both the Assault and Disruptor classes, but only one for Support. This will let players experience the variety of gameplay styles we’re planning for the complete game. These characters each have special skills and weapons, offering a preview of what you can expect in the final release.
New Radiant Monster Types
The game will also let players get a sneak peek at 13 monsters that will be in the complete version. This includes brand new Radiant Monsters, which are special creatures exclusive to Monster Hunter Outlanders. During the beta test, players will battle Radiant versions of some of the game’s main monsters, such as:
- Radiant Diablos
- Radiant Anjanath
- Radiant Barroth
- Radiant Rathian
- Radiant Pukei-Pukei
You can tackle these monsters on your own with the help of AI companions, or team up with friends for cooperative play. The beta test includes several weeks worth of gameplay. The developers will use player feedback from this beta to improve Monster Hunter Outlanders. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, you can register on the game’s website to be notified about future playtests.
