FuRyu announces roguelike action RPG Crymelight, set to release on November 5 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC

FuRyu revealed their new game, Crymelight, during the April Indie Live Expo. It’s a roguelike action RPG coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam) on November 5th. Crymelight is the third game in FuRyu’s ‘Cry’ series, known for its ‘Dark Bishoujo Action’ style of RPGs, following the releases of Crystar (2019) and Crymachina (2023). The game will cost $19.99.

Crymelight is a game inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Players control Alice, a young woman with amnesia, who journeys through the levels of Purgatory hoping to recover her memories and be reborn. It’s an action game with combat viewed from the side, where you use cards to unlock skills, and features a roguelike design – meaning levels are different each time you play.

Okay, gamers, listen up! FuRyu, the folks behind some cool games, just announced Crymelight, the next game in their Cry series – it’s a dark and stylish action roguelike! I’m super excited because it’s coming out on November 5, 2026, for PC (on Steam), PlayStation 5, and the new Nintendo Switch 2! It’ll be $19.99. You can actually preorder the PS5 version right now, and wishlist it on Steam and PlayStation Store. If you haven’t played the first Crystar from 2018, it’s a great game and they’re putting it on sale for only $1.99 to celebrate the Crymelight announcement! The sale lasts until May 5th at 3:00 AM PT, so grab it while you can!

Crymelight is the next chapter in the story following Crystar and Crymachina. It centers around a girl named Alice who wakes up with amnesia and learns she needs to reach the deepest level of Purgatory to be reborn. Her journey begins at the Tea Party Hall, where she’ll battle monsters born from insanity, face her past mistakes, and grow emotionally as she seeks redemption.

Crymelight is an action-packed roguelike game with fresh gameplay, offering endless challenging fights and a deep, engaging story.

Wonderland and the Tea Party

Okay, so the game has two main worlds. There’s “Wonderland,” which is seriously messed up – it’s basically a prison for lost souls. Then there’s “The Tea Party,” which is a safe haven for girls who are carrying a lot of guilt. When I’m at the Tea Party, I get to chat with different characters, and Alice can actually confess to things she’s done in battles. It’s like a way to get rid of her sins and earn cool upgrades and power-ups. It’s a really interesting mechanic, honestly!

Blend Exhilaration With Strategy in Combat

When you defeat enemies, you release a surge of power, and a glowing, blue-purple area—called the “Wonder Dimension”—appears below you. The larger this area grows, the stronger your abilities become, making you faster and more agile in combat. What’s more, the skills you learn change how those abilities are boosted, completely reshaping your fighting style. Skilled players can use this to gain an advantage in battles and even expand the fighting area, making clever use of space.

The Cards You’ve Drawn

Players gather “Skill Cards” between levels, building a hand of five like in poker. The better the poker hand they create, the stronger the effects will be, significantly changing how they attack and move.

Play Your Way

Players can choose between two ways to play: “World-Immersion Mode” offers a more cinematic experience with minimal on-screen displays, enhanced visuals, and a close-up camera angle. “Action Mode” provides a broader, top-down view, keeps important information visible, and focuses on fast-paced combat. Completing levels earns skill cards which, when used with Alice’s existing cards, make her stronger in battle. If Alice is defeated, she returns to the Tea Party Hall to prepare for another attempt.

I’m so hyped for Crymelight! The team working on it is incredible – seriously, a dream team! They’ve got Naoki Hisaya, who did the story for the original CRY games, handling the plot here. And the music? That’s Sakuzyo, also from CRY! Plus, Riri Yamashita, the animator behind Crymachina and Varlet, is involved, and YOGISYA, who everyone raves about for their character designs, is doing the characters. It’s shaping up to be something special!

Crymelight is the newest game in FuRyu’s series of role-playing games featuring strong, young female characters in dark fantasy settings. These heroines fight tormented spirits while grappling with their own emotions. In Crymelight, players follow Alice as she journeys through the levels of Purgatory, hoping to recover her lost memories and find redemption by facing her past mistakes and growing as a person.

Character Introduction

Alice

Voice: Sayaka Senbongi

This girl finds herself in Wonderland with no memory of who she is or her past life – or even her death. She’s forced to compete in a deadly game, fighting to reach a place she desperately wants to find. She keeps to herself and doesn’t seem to care about anyone, with the possible exception of Mary. It’s unclear if losing her memories is helping her or hindering her progress.

Mary

Voice: Sekine Hitomi

This girl is a lost and innocent newcomer to Wonderland, not someone taking part in a deadly game. Like Alice, she’s forgotten her past, but desperately wants to return home. She admires Alice and feels indebted to her, and is determined to help her, even though she’s weak. She’s prepared to face any hardship to do so.

Cheshire

Voice: Yukina Shuto

I’m totally fascinated by this character! She’s this sweet, inquisitive girl who somehow ended up in Wonderland, but it’s not the whimsical place you remember. She’s caught up in this deadly game, fighting to survive, and honestly, she’s doing it all to find a friend. It’s kind of cool, though – she always loved spooky stories and myths, and now she’s living one, even in the afterlife. But there’s a catch… she’s blocked out something huge from her past, a really big lie that’s clearly going to come back and haunt her.

Mad

Voice: Ojika Nao

This sweet and kind girl found herself in Wonderland, and is now a contestant in a deadly game. She fights not to win, but to reach heaven, believing death is a peaceful salvation. Even after dying and arriving in the afterlife of Wonderland, she holds onto this belief. Because of this, she relentlessly hunts other souls, not out of malice, but because she genuinely believes she’s saving them and doesn’t see it as a wrongdoing.

March

Voice: Yurina Amami

March is a shy girl who unexpectedly found herself in Wonderland, and forced to participate in a dangerous game. Despite the battle for survival, she chooses to work as a hostess during the tea parties, preferring to avoid conflict. She’s easily influenced by others and struggles to stand up for herself. Though every participant has a reason for being there, March refuses to reveal hers, believing she doesn’t deserve to have her wish fulfilled.

White Rabbit

Voice: Sasahara Yu

This girl leads people through Wonderland, but she’s also in charge of guiding those taking part in a deadly game. Despite looking like a child, she speaks with a very grown-up voice. She’s kind to the official players, but quite rude to Mary, who wasn’t invited. The person running the game completely controls her – even going as far as to silence her by sewing her mouth shut if she says too much. The White Rabbit is both afraid of and deeply devoted to the organizer, and it’s hinted that this strong affection might be her downfall.
