In a recent post, Jake Reiner, the eldest son of Rob and Michele Reiner, shared his feelings about learning of his parents’ murder in December 2025, just before his 34th birthday. He wrote about the many losses he experienced that day, including the fact that his parents won’t be there for his wedding, won’t meet his future children, and won’t see him achieve his career goals. He described feeling both heartbroken and furious. Jake also spoke about the overwhelming pain of losing both parents at once, saying it’s a devastation he can barely understand and that he still struggles to accept it isn’t a dream, but a terrible reality.
I was really touched reading Jake’s words about his parents. He talked about all the fun times they had – going to musicals with his mom and Dodgers games with his dad – but even with all those happy memories, he just misses them so much. He wrote that he’d give up everything – all those games, shows, vacations – just for one more hour to talk to them and say goodbye. It really struck me how he explained that unless you’re going through something like this with someone you love, it’s hard to understand how awful it is. He said it’s not something you can just move on from, or even forget for a moment, because it’s a pain he and Romy live with every single day.
