A map for the upcoming Pokémon Wind and Waves has been revealed, showing many new islands, locations, and a shape that looks surprisingly familiar to fans.
The announcement of Pokemon Wind and Waves sparked a lot of excitement among fans, who immediately started researching everything they could about the new generation of Pokemon – the starters, new creatures, the game’s setting, and more. However, The Pokemon Company has been careful about sharing details, releasing only a limited amount of official information.
Despite efforts to keep details under wraps, information about the game has been leaking, and the most recent leak appears to show a sizable map. Fans quickly identified the map’s design.
Pokemon Wind and Waves map leak reveals 17 islands & more
A new map called Wind and Waves has been leaked online by CentroLeaks, a trustworthy source. The map features 17 islands, diverse ocean environments, and notable locations like legendary Temples, Gyms, and landmarks.
The map is still under development, and not all locations have names yet. Right now, you can see areas labeled by their general type. However, we’ve previewed a TM Shop and Pharmacy on Island 8, and a Hotel, player Rooms, Mt. Symbol, and a Research Lab on Island 1.
Island 5 is home to Power Plants and Research Labs, while you’ll find the complete Pokemon League and Champion challenge on Island 11.
The leaked information also showed us the different types of Gyms you’ll find in the game: Grass (on Island 1), Poison (Island 2), Flying (Island 6), Fighting (Island 7), Dark (Island 8), Steel (Island 11), and Fairy (Island 14). Additionally, there are several landmarks and the Legendary Temples located in Ocean 1.

Even with the recent updates, people are pointing out a striking resemblance to a place from real life and another from a popular story.
One user jokingly said the map looked so much like Indonesia they initially thought it was a fake. Others pointed out its strong resemblance to the Paldea region from Pokémon, describing it as a fragmented version with a similar progression system of gyms, bosses, and bases.
This map uses information from 2024, so it might be updated in the future. However, it aligns with other map details that have been shared online.
