Xbox Game Pass ‘starter edition’ leaked for Discord Nitro users

Details about a basic version of Xbox Game Pass have appeared online after Microsoft lowered the price of Game Pass Ultimate.

Xbox Game Pass launched in 2017 as a subscription service that lets Xbox players access a library of games for a monthly fee, rather than buying each game individually. It also helps smaller, independent games gain popularity.

Game Pass has evolved recently, with new features like day-one access to the latest Call of Duty games, and a price increase for its Ultimate subscription level.

However, on April 21st, Xbox reversed course, announcing that new Call of Duty games would no longer be released on day one with Game Pass. They also lowered the subscription price back to $22.99, which pleased many players who had previously canceled their subscriptions when the price rose to $29.99.

A new, basic version of Game Pass, called the ‘Starter Edition,’ has recently appeared online, offering a limited set of features for potential subscribers.

Game Pass allows access to games without actually owning them.

Xbox Game Pass starter edition leaked with Discord integration

So, I was reading Windows Central, and apparently someone over at Xbox Cloud Gaming stumbled across a ‘starter edition’ of something. Then, a DiscordPreviews account shared the info, so now everyone’s talking about it!

On April 23rd, Discord announced that Nitro subscribers ($9.99/month) will soon get a free Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition). This includes access to over 50 games, 10 hours of cloud gaming per month, and rewards through the Xbox program.

This Discord Nitro feature seems to be offered as part of a package, similar to how Xbox recently partnered with the messaging service.

Okay, so this is awesome news for anyone with Discord Nitro! Apparently, if you’re a Nitro subscriber, you’re gonna get Xbox Game Pass (the Starter Edition) completely free. That means I’ll be able to play over 50 games from the Game Pass library, and I get 10 hours a month to stream games in the cloud. Plus, they’re throwing in Xbox rewards too, which is cool. Definitely a nice perk for being a Nitro member!

The leaked content has been well-received on social media, with many users describing it as a significant development.

People are incredibly excited about this deal, with many saying it’s a fantastic value. One user suggested adding a World of Warcraft subscription to the Game Pass bundle, creating an even more appealing offer, while others simply called it “insane” and a “steal.”

I’m excited about the new Game Pass tier, but I’m also a little hesitant. A lot of us are waiting to see which 50 games they’ll actually include before we jump in – and so far, they haven’t given us any hints!
