Mindy Cohn, best known as the voice of Velma in Scooby-Doo, has announced she’s cancer-free for the second time after a battle with the disease.
On April 19th, Cohn announced the news on Instagram, posting a picture of herself giving a thumbs-up from the hospital.
She recently returned to social media after battling cancer. She shared that she was able to overcome the challenge thanks to the incredible care she received at Providence Saint John’s hospital, specifically mentioning her nurses Finja, Patty, and Courtney, and her surgeon, Dr. Anton Bilchik, whom she called her hero.
I’m so grateful for my family, especially Tara Karsian, John Stewart, and Gregory Zarian, who have always supported and helped me through everything. I’m taking a couple more weeks to recover and then I’m excited to start my next chapter. Onward! And a big message to cancer: you won’t win!

Although she hasn’t revealed much information, her reference to gastrointestinal oncology suggests her cancer involved her digestive system. This covers a variety of cancers, as the digestive system includes organs like the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, intestines, rectum, and anus.
Mindy Cohn shares health update, revealing cancer diagnosis
Sigourney Cohn, age 59, is well-known as the voice of Velma in many Scooby-Doo shows and movies over the past twenty years. She also gained popularity for playing Natalie Green on the 1980s television series, The Facts of Life.
She’s faced cancer before, having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. After a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation, she went into remission in 2017.
Cohn opened up about her health in an interview with People that same year.
She said she’s always been a hopeful person, but her cancer spread, relentlessly returning after treatment. She felt like she was constantly bracing for bad news, and it always came. This left her feeling incredibly frustrated and powerless, as there was nothing she could do to change the situation.
After recently opening up about her health, she’s getting a lot of encouraging messages from her friends, fans, and colleagues on Instagram. This comes shortly after she starred in the 2024 Apple TV series ‘Palm Royale’.
