A LEGO set has broken a Guinness World Record by reaching the edge of space – soaring almost 115,000 feet above the Earth!
I was so excited to hear about this! On March 20th, someone launched a Lego astronaut – modeled after the one from the book Project Hail Mary – into the sky from Gwynedd County in the UK. It soared to an incredible height of over 22 miles – 114,790 feet, to be exact – and thankfully landed safely back on Earth. It was an amazing feat!
Sent Into Space teamed up with Lego and the creators of the new movie to launch a special build. It featured a minifigure of the character Ryland Grace, a model of his spaceship, and the character Rocky.

Lego astronaut completes record-breaking near-space flight
A Lego set was fastened to a special platform and launched into the sky with a high-altitude balloon. Cameras and GPS tracked its flight, which lasted over eight hours and captured views of Earth’s curve before the set floated back down to the ground.
The Lego set successfully landed and was recovered in good condition, officially earning a Guinness World Record for being launched and retrieved from the highest altitude ever.
Sent Into Space launched a unique mission that blended rocket science with a Lego masterpiece. They used the Lego Icons Project Hail Mary set and sent it soaring into the sky.
Okay, so this is amazing! The team behind ‘Project Hail Mary’ just smashed another Guinness World Record! They launched a LEGO set to a crazy high altitude and actually got it back! Seriously, they did it twice now! If you haven’t seen the movie ‘Project Hail Mary’ yet, you definitely should – it’s awesome, and the people involved are clearly capable of anything! #ProjectHailMary

The record was officially confirmed on April 13th in Las Vegas, and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller received a Guinness World Records certificate.
This success is the film’s second record-breaking feat. The team recently achieved another milestone by hosting the highest-ever IMAX trailer screening, at an altitude of 101,896 feet, with a specially designed display.
