It’s been over two years since Fast X, but Vin Diesel is still very excited about Fast & Furious 11 – and he promises it will take audiences to a completely new and unexpected place.
The Fast & Furious series began in 2001, initially resembling a flashy take on the movie Point Break. Now, more than twenty years later, Dom Toretto and his close-knit group, his “familia“, have been involved in incredible feats-from hauling safes through the streets of Rio de Janeiro to stopping a potential nuclear war, and even launching a car into space.
With Fast & Furious 11 potentially being the last movie in the franchise, will it go back to focusing on street racing and NOS? Or will Dom, as he’s done before, achieve something unbelievable, like time travel or bringing someone back to life?
It’s obvious he’s eager to get this done quickly, and he’s hoping to reunite everyone.
Vin Diesel says Fast & Furious 11 will “honor” the franchise
In a post on Instagram, Vin Diesel shared a picture of himself with Michelle Rodriguez, who has portrayed his on-screen wife, Letty, since the very first movie in the series.
“Just wrapped an incredible day filming with my ride-or-die about the future of Fast,” he wrote.
Even after so much time and distance, our conversation today brought back why this family is so important to me. Rodriguez reminisced about how it all began, when it wasn’t clear if movies about street racing would be successful, and all the ups and downs – the challenges, setbacks, and triumphs – we’ve experienced together.
She’s witnessed so much over the years. She’s worked with many studio heads, seen numerous executives come and go, and experienced different ideas and leadership styles all attempting to guide the franchise. However, despite all the company changes, leadership shifts, and new management teams, one thing has always remained constant… the strong bond between the Fast family and its fans worldwide!

You know, after really listening to her, it just hit me… she’s always going to be Letty, through and through. That genuine quality, that real connection she has? It’s so much more important than any corporate stuff or how long things take to develop. It’s truly what really matters, you know? It’s bigger than all of that. I’m a huge fan and I think that’s what everyone loves about her – she’s just authentic.
That connection? It can’t be broken. It’s more important than any business choice or profit margin.
To all of our patient fans, and everyone who believes family comes first, the next step we’re taking will celebrate everything you appreciate about the Fast saga, while also taking the story in a completely new direction. Because, no matter who is in charge, this family ultimately serves you.
So, what are Diesel’s plans? During an appearance at Fuel Fest earlier this year, he explained three requirements for how the story will end.
“First… we needed to bring the franchise back to L.A.! Then, it was important to refocus on car culture and street racing! And finally, we wanted to bring Dom and Brian O’Conner back together,” he explained.
Brian, portrayed by Paul Walker (who sadly passed away in 2013), last appeared on screen in Furious 7. While he’s been mentioned in subsequent films, he hasn’t physically been shown, and many believe Fast & Furious 11 will feature a digitally recreated version of him.
