Capcom recently celebrated Pragmata selling one million copies, which isn’t surprising considering how popular the game has become. Players have especially connected with the charming relationship between the characters Hugh and Diana, and praised its fresh and inventive gameplay.
While the game generally follows a straightforward path, it can be surprisingly challenging due to its many systems and increasing difficulty, particularly if you’re still learning to manage Diana’s multitasking and hacking abilities. I can’t offer gameplay assistance, but I’m here to make things a little easier for you.
Today we’re sharing some helpful Pragmata tips and tricks we wish we‘d discovered sooner during our journey with Hugh and Diana. Get ready, because these aren’t the usual, well-known hints – we’re diving into the less obvious details!
8. Use Your Weapons Unsparingly
You Get More Than Enough

Just to reiterate: try to use Hugh’s Units and Weapons whenever possible. Don’t rely on just one main weapon all the time. The game provides a steady supply of these items, ensuring you always have a weapon equipped in each slot.
Don’t get the idea that you should just rapidly use these items, though. Try to use them alongside your regular attacks. Even if you mostly rely on the Riot Gun to control groups of enemies, don’t save these for special occasions. This isn’t a game where you need to carefully conserve resources. Use their power in every fight, even against weaker enemies.
7. Get Object Scan as Soon as Possible
No More Having to Find Everything Yourself
Okay, so this is a really cool thing I figured out! Once you get to the Terra Dome area, you’ll start earning Lunafilament. Save it up, because you can head back to the Shelter and buy a brand new ability! It’s a game changer, trust me.
Object Scan is a very affordable upgrade for Diana. It enhances her existing scanning ability, letting her quickly detect nearby items like REM disks, Upgrade Modules, Mods, and even Pure Lunum – basically, all the important collectibles except for the Mini-Cabin figurines.
6. Combat Secrets That’ll Help You in the Long Run
Some Obvious, Some Illusive
Here’s a quick guide to help you get started with combat and have an easier time fighting the AI enemies.
Don’t forget Hugh can still shoot while moving without aiming down sights. You don’t have to constantly aim or focus solely on hacking – stay cautious and keep your distance. Later on, some enemies will fire missiles at you, but you can actually hack those missiles in mid-air and redirect them back at the enemy.
It takes practice, but try to save your yellow hacking nodes for challenging enemies instead of wasting them on easier ones like Walkers. You’ll still earn yellow nodes from any enemy, but they’re much more effective when used strategically in difficult fights.
5. Essential Mods
They Can Help a Lot More Than You’d Expect
Diana’s ability to search for objects leads to finding various modifications for Hugh back at the Shelter. These modifications can significantly change how you play the game, letting you develop different strategies based on how you equip him before each mission.
Some particularly helpful upgrades include Sturdy Armor, which gives you a 10% health boost and is easy to find early in the game. Also, be sure to activate Close Quarters for increased damage when you’re fighting up close, and another upgrade that gives you 10% more Lunafilament pickups – having these active constantly will really help you out.
4. Backtrack Once You Get Lim Eraser
Gain Access to the Inaccessible
Annoyed by all those blue thorn spikes? Don’t worry, as you progress through the Mass Production Array, Diana will unlock a new power called the Lim Eraser, which she can activate from a special structure. This will help get rid of them!
After you get it, keep progressing through the main story, but I also recommend going back to collect any resources you missed. There were spikes blocking some of them earlier, so now’s a good time to grab everything and fully explore each area, potentially completing the starting zone entirely.
3. Stacking Hacks and Getting Extra Damage
Get More Value out of Diana’s Hacks
Okay, so Diana’s hacking is really cool, but here’s the thing: you need to start hacking enemies right away. Seriously, keep stacking those hacks on them! You’ll eventually unlock chips that actually change how her hacking works, making those blue nodes even better. Once you’ve hacked an enemy once, you can keep going, and with those upgraded chips, you can even get an extra damage boost with each hack. It’s a great way to maximize damage!
Okay, so I’ve been messing around with hacking, and I figured out a cool trick with Diana! If you get right up next to the green node on her grid, and then give it a little boost with Hugh, you can really crank up the damage. Seriously, you can actually see the numbers go up on the grid as you do it, which is awesome. It’s a great way to maximize your hacking output!
Using Mode Chips, like Combust Mode, builds up Heat on enemies, making it easier to stun them multiple times. Once you unlock these chips, don’t hesitate to break an enemy’s armor again even after the first time – you’ll need to do it repeatedly anyway to keep them stunned.
2. Best Attachments
Proper Lunafilament Investment is Important
In Pragmata, you can find helpful attachments at the Shelter’s Unit Printer that will make your experience with Hugh and Diana much easier. I suggest focusing on getting Thrusters first, then Mod Slots, Repair Ups, and finally, the Hacking Gauge.

As a fan, I’ve found that if you’re good at dodging and don’t take much damage, you can hold off on upgrading Repair Up right away. But if you’re having trouble staying alive, definitely focus on boosting your healing first. Also, Mod Slots just let you equip more mods to Hugh, which is awesome, and improving the Hacking Gauge means Diana can use her super powerful Overdrive more often after each successful hack!
1. Unlock & Upgrade Your Weapons
They Do Actually Grow on Trees
It’s easy to think you’d have to buy weapons again each time after unlocking them at the Shelter, but that’s not how it works. Once you unlock and purchase a weapon for 100 Lunafilaments, you can add it to your gear whenever you’re preparing for a mission.
What I really love is that once you get a weapon, you’re not stuck with just the base version. You can actually upgrade them to make them even better – adding cool new features and making them way more effective in battles. It’s awesome to customize your gear and really make it your own!
I highly suggest upgrading both the Shockwave and Charge Piercer – they deal a lot of damage. Since Pure Lunum is the rarest item in the game, use it carefully! It’s a good strategy to focus on a few favorite weapons and keep them upgraded rather than spreading your resources too thin.
