The organization has unveiled a new logo signaling a fresh start, but it also starkly highlights how much mutants have lost their former status.
Marvel just revealed the new X-Men logo, and it’s strikingly intimidating. Unlike past logos that focused on the team’s strangeness or bravery, this one portrays mutants as dangerous and threatening, like living hazards.
Marvel’s upcoming DNX #1 introduces a conflict between two factions of the X-Men. Led by Cyclops and 3K – both students of Xavier with differing ideas for mutants – they’ve both seen a possible future called the Age of Revelation. Cyclops aims to prevent this future, while 3K wants to make it happen. Meanwhile, the X-Men reach out to the Fantastic Four for help with a teammate, and the White Beast starts a dangerous plan to release the X-Virus into a large city!
Written by Jed MacKay with art by Federico Vicentini, DNX continues the story of the X-Men. Following the recent Shadows of Tomorrow event, DNX features the X-Men heroes battling mutant villains in the year 3000, trying to prevent their plans from unfolding worldwide.
For years, Beast was one of Marvel’s most important mutant heroes, but the story of Krakoa led to his decline. He led X-Force, then transformed it into Krakoa’s spy agency, and even created numerous clone armies featuring multiple Wolverines and copies of himself. Ironically, a clone containing a previous scan of Beast’s brain allowed the original, heroic version of the character to return.
X-Men’s Age of Revelation Connects to DNX
Spectators watched as the last of the mutants battled each other. Some had sided with Revelation, believing he would create a better future. Others recognized his rule as disastrous, resulting in intense conflicts over the past year.
Writer Jed MacKay recently shared what fans can anticipate from the upcoming DNX comic in September. He explained that while Age of Revelation showed a glimpse of the future, DNX will focus on how that future affects the present. A major conflict is brewing between the X-Men and 3K, one that’s been building since the first issue, and will ultimately result in one side losing. With the Fantastic Four also getting involved, this event promises to significantly change the X-Men’s world.
DNX #1 from Marvel Comics goes on sale on September 2.
