How to Defeat Echo Amoxliatl in Leagues VI OSRS

Leagues 6 is now live in Old School Runescape, and many players have already started! There’s a ton to do – complete hundreds of tasks, earn millions of experience points, and defeat powerful bosses using your new skills and abilities.

Okay, so Echo Bosses are basically super tough versions of bosses we’ve seen before, originally from Leagues 5. Now that a new League has started in Varlamore, we can fight them again!

To really maximize your potential, you’ll need to venture into the frozen caves and defeat this powerful enemy. It won’t be a simple battle, but if you’re well-equipped and prepared, you should be able to handle it.

Let’s get combat-ready and check out just what it takes to subdue Echo Amoxliatl.

Echo Amoxliatl Requirements

You can unlock Echo Amoxliatl fairly early in the game with just a few simple requirements. Here’s a quick list of what you’ll need:

  • Heart of Darkness Quest Completed
  • Varlamore Echo Orb Obtained (1/40)
  • Prayer Level 37 for Protect from Magic

You’ll need level 55 Mining, 28 Thieving, 48 Slayer, and 46 Agility to start this quest. It begins with a fight against a regular Amoxliatl, which will give you a preview of challenges ahead.

You’ll likely need to defeat this boss several times to get the Echo orb, so it’s important to learn the attacks that disable your protective abilities. Don’t worry, once you have the orb, you can use it as many times as you need, even if you’re defeated by the Echo Variant – you won’t have to earn it again.

Gearing Up

You can beat this fight with minimal damage by skillfully dodging Amoxliatl’s attacks, but it takes practice – it’s not straightforward on your first attempt.

Basically, max out your preferred combat style before starting the fight. While not essential, it’s highly recommended to get at least one of the ultimate upgrades from your Demonic Pact Tree beforehand. These final upgrades provide a significant power increase, making them well worth getting.

  • If you’re playing Magic, you should probably be able to either attack with fire spells and grab the pact that reduces spellbook cast speed by 2. Or if you have a powered stave at this point, grab the pact that reduces cast speed by 3 ticks. While you might not have a massive amount of accuracy, you attack so fast, you’re bound to hit.
  • If you’re playing Melee, Blindbag works decently well here. Just make sure you bring a decently fast Crush weapon. And make sure you have your 5 Heavy weapons in your inventory, ready to go. Something like the Glacial Temotli works great here.
  • If you’re playing Range, the Crossbow build works like a charm here. Make sure you grab the Max hit capstone as well as the one that doubles your accuracy rolls to make sure you’re constantly hitting. The Hunter’s Sunlight Crossbow is obtainable really early on and is an absolute powerhouse.

You don’t need to worry too much about armor for this – just bring enough food and maybe say a quick prayer! Once you learn how the enemy attacks, you’ll be able to handle it.

Jagex announced they’re lowering the defense of this boss, which will make the fight more manageable for players who haven’t defeated it yet.

How to Beat Echo Amoxliatl

Phase 1

When you enter the Echo arena, immediately activate . You can also set it to activate with your Quick Prayers, alongside your preferred combat prayer.

When Echo Amoxliatl attacks, immediately move to an open space. Be aware that along with its normal attacks, the boss will launch a special, unblockable projectile that leaves a mark on the ground where it hits. Stepping onto that marked tile will cause you to take extra, unavoidable damage, essentially making that space dangerous to use.

When the projectile lands, it creates a circle of spikes around the impact point. Therefore, move carefully, just one square at a time. Don’t rush around, or you’ll get hit by the spikes. The projectile appears every 4 seconds, which gives you enough time to attack and then reposition. Prioritize dodging the attacks over trying to deal damage.

When Amoxliatl says, “Rani grows within me”, the boss will create a patch of spikes and disable your ability to pray. Immediately move away from the spikes, then reactivate your prayers and resume attacking.

When fighting the boss, stick to the edges of the arena and try to move smoothly. Moving around randomly will make too many areas of the floor unusable.

Phase 2

The next part of the fight starts when Amoxliatl says, “Let the darkness consume you,” which will happen around when his health reaches 250. You’ll have to deal with the same attacks as before – dodging the spikes and activating your protective prayers.

This time, the boss will become much more aggressive. Projectiles will now fire very quickly – every 2 game ticks – so you’ll need to move constantly. Most weapons can’t fire fast enough to keep up, so focus on movement. Walk one space every 1.2 seconds, and attack the boss every couple of steps – about every 2 or 3 tiles – while continuing to move.

Practice moving around without attacking for a bit to improve your timing and avoid getting hurt. If you’ve already taken some damage, eat a piece of food followed by a Karambwan while you’re moving. Once your health is full, you can resume attacking.

Echo Amoxliatl Rewards

The first time you kill Echo Amoxliatl, you will earn the following:

  • 80 League Points
  • 1 Demonic Pact
  • 1 Full Tree Reset

If you’re unhappy with how you’ve built your Demonic Pact tree, you can easily reset it and experiment with a different way to fight.

Plus, defeating this Echo boss gives you a chance to earn the Infernal Tecpatl, a unique dual-wielding weapon that combines the strengths of all two-handed Nagua weapons.

This weapon is particularly strong and effective against demons, offering a 10% boost to both accuracy and damage when fighting creatures like Cerberus or the Doom of Mokhiatl. Its powerful build also makes it an excellent choice for players starting out with the Blindbag playstyle.

This weapon also features a special attack called Brand. It lets you strike four times in a row, functioning much like the special attack from the Dragon Dagger.

There’s a low chance – about 1 in 30 – to get this item from Echo Amoxliatl. But don’t worry, you’re guaranteed to get it after defeating the boss 60 times, so it won’t take forever. Plus, defeating this boss gives you a chance at both its standard rewards and a chance for this specific weapon.

League Tasks

Even if you’ve already beaten this boss a few times and gotten the Demonic Pact rewards, it’s still worth spending some extra time fighting it. Leagues usually involve completing tasks and earning league points, so there are a few more goals you can work towards while you’re getting better at this boss.

  • Amoxliatl Combat Achievements – 80 Points
  • Defeat Amoxliatl 50 times – 80 Points
  • Defeat 25 Echo Bosses – 80 Points
  • Equip 1 Unique Echo Item – 80 Points
  • Defeat 75 Echo Bosses – 200 Points
  • Defeat 150 Echo Bosses – 200 Points
  • Equip Glacial Temotli – 30 Points
  • Equip Pendant of Ates – 30 Points

Okay, so once I snagged the Pendant of Ates from Amoxliatl, I started hitting all those statues – apparently, they give you bonus points! It’s like, Leagues are designed so one task leads to another, so I’ve been trying to knock out as many side things as possible before tackling the main objectives. It just feels more efficient that way!

Once you’ve become skilled with Echo Amoxliatl, you’ll be well-prepared for the next group of Echo bosses in upcoming areas! Best of luck, and don’t give up! Achieving Dragon rank is possible with continued effort!
