As a gamer, I’ve noticed even fast food places are like developers dropping DLC! They don’t just stick with what works – McDonald’s will throw out spicy nuggets, KFC messes with their burgers, and Subway’s always adding new sandwich fillings. It keeps things interesting, you know?
Many of these limited-time items aren’t available for very long – sometimes just a week or a month – before they’re removed from the menu.
Sometimes, these items are only available for a single day and at specific restaurant locations.
McDonald’s cheeseburger with a mullet offered in New Zealand
On April 18th, a McDonald’s restaurant in New Zealand playfully offered a Cheeseburger topped with a mullet – the hairstyle – at its Penrose location.
This Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., the McDonald’s location in Penrose, New Zealand, will be offering a special item called the “Cheeseburger with a Mullet,” according to McDonald’s marketing director Guillaume Huin in a post on X.
A piece of cheese at a McDonald’s resembled the mullet hairstyle, with an overhanging section. Some people joked online that their local restaurants had been serving cheese like that for a while now.
This Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m., the McDonald’s location in Penrose, New Zealand, will be offering a special: a ‘Cheeseburger with a Mullet’.

Because the burger was only sold for two hours at a single McDonald’s location, many customers weren’t able to get it and have been requesting its return.
Seriously, why does McDonald’s in other countries always have the coolest menu items? I totally agree – I’d buy so many of them if I could! It’s awesome stuff, and I wish we had it here.
Limited-edition products often create disappointment for fans who can’t get their hands on them. This recently happened with Starbucks in Korea, which partnered with Toy Story 5 for a special release. Customers around the world expressed frustration that the collaboration wasn’t available everywhere.
