Counter-Strike player banned for 10 years after hitting opponent on stage

I was shocked to hear that MAUschine got banned from Counter-Strike for ten years! Apparently, they actually hit another player while they were on stage at a tournament. It’s crazy to think something like that could happen, and I guess the punishment fits the action.

DACH CS recently hosted the CAGGTUS Leipzig tournament. The Counter-Strike 2 competition itself ran smoothly, but the awards ceremony afterwards caused some problems and disagreement.

During the award ceremony, as the two finalist teams walked onto the stage, a player named MAUschine intentionally hit an opponent in the face. He then continued walking and took his team’s place on stage.

Right after that, the tournament banned MAUschine from competing for ten years. The event was also reported to the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) for review.

Counter-Strike player hits opponent in the face at event

A team stood smiling on stage, ready to receive their awards. As their opponents came to join them in the spotlight, MAUschine launched its attack.

He struck an opposing player, nicknamed ‘Spidergum,’ hard enough to knock their glasses off. The player looked dazed and confused when the camera showed them again, seemingly unsure why they’d been hit.

The event was recorded during a CAGGTUS Leipzig broadcast and has since been viewed tens of thousands of times.

So, I heard MAUschine got pretty tilted during the finals. Apparently, the trash talk was getting to them, which was kinda surprising since there wasn’t even any money on the line! The real prize was getting invited back to the local LAN next year, but it still seemed to bother them a lot.

This isn’t the first time this has happened – a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player was recently banned for physically touching an opponent. It might be a good idea for competitive players to find ways to manage their frustration, maybe even look into sponsorship from stress ball companies.
