Ozark Creator’s New Crime Series Is Officially Releasing On Streaming Next Month

The creator of Ozark has a new crime series that’s officially releasing on streaming next month.

The initial trailer for M.I.A. is out, giving us a first look at the newest series by Bill Dubuque, the creator of Ozark. Since Ozark concluded, Dubuque has worked on several crime-related projects, including writing the script for The Accountant 2 and executive producing the Netflix thriller His & Hers.

Peacock has just dropped the first trailer for M.I.A., a new series from Dbuque set in the Florida Keys. The show centers around Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela), a woman whose family is heavily involved in the Miami drug trade. After her entire family is murdered by twelve men, she embarks on a vibrant, action-filled journey to get revenge.

The new trailer shows Etta didn’t die when her family was attacked, and surprisingly, the people who hurt her are now searching for her. Meanwhile, Kincaid (Cary Elwes) is investigating her family’s deaths and appears determined to find and safeguard her before they can get to her. What he doesn’t know is that Etta is now the one doing the hunting.

The show M.I.A. features Brittany Adebumola as Lovely and Dylan T. Jackson as Stanley, two friends who join Etta and help her get revenge. The series looks like it will have a complex plot, with Etta facing off against several criminal groups as she seeks justice.

The new Peacock series starts streaming on May 7, 2026, and will have nine episodes in its first season. This is the first television show from the creator of Ozark, and their second time serving as a showrunner. The trailer suggests a suspenseful story full of unexpected events, as the main character, Etta, systematically pursues her goals.

Besides the actors already announced, Danay Garcia, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco, and Marta Milans will also be series regulars. The show will also feature guest appearances by Edward James Olmos, Billy Burke, Sonia Braga, Loretta Devine, Tovah Feldshuh, Tyler Perez, Paul Ben-Victor, and David Denman.

The trailer reveals Etta will be consumed by a desire for revenge, and the new Peacock series will deliver the same intense drama and compelling storytelling that made Ozark so successful. While the extent of the risks she’ll face remains to be seen, the show suggests her pursuit of revenge will be worth it, and ultimately justified.

This new project feels like a natural next step for Dubuque, who is known for his work on many crime films. He’s currently involved with several projects, including writing the screenplay for an animated movie called The Night Gardener, but this streaming series is a return to the kind of TV shows he usually creates.

The trailer for M.I.A. suggests a carefully crafted series that will focus on the pursuit of revenge. This focused approach is what makes it a promising successor to Ozark, and hints at a compelling story overall.
