Ballpoint pen is going viral for containing real parasites

Believe it or not, a simple ballpoint pen is becoming popular online. But it’s not an ordinary pen – it actually contains live parasites!

A special new kind of stationery from Japan is becoming popular on social media, even though it was first made in 2021. Instead of using a typical pen, you can now take notes with what feels like a tiny, living creature in your hand!

Okay, so I just heard about this and had to share. If you ever find yourself in Susaki, Japan, you can actually buy a pen… filled with living parasites. Seriously! It’s a clear ballpoint pen, and yep, you can see the little guys swimming around inside. It’s a real thing you can own, if that’s your kind of…collectible. I’m not gonna lie, it’s a little creepy, but hey, to each their own!

Although some people thought the videos might be fake, they’re actually real. The pen is from Tada Suisan, and the creatures inside are Anisakis parasites, which are found in fish and can cause illness if eaten.

Viral pen houses living parasites

The idea originally came from FUNA84, who reportedly removed these parasites from their own stomach and kept them as pets. Takuhiro Tada, the president of Tada Suisan, noticed the popularity of this and decided to try it himself.

This describes the kind of weapon a Resident Evil villain might use to trigger a gruesome transformation – turning into a massive, monstrous creature with multiple eyes that fires projectiles.

Instead of taking Anisakis parasites from people’s stomachs, the company is getting them from the fish they catch. Because of this, they can’t always predict how many pens they’ll be able to make each week.

Tada told Asahi News that their pen production varies greatly. Some days they create around 20 pens, while other weeks they don’t make any at all.

After a huge response online, the company started selling these pens widely. If you’re looking for the perfect, intimidating pen to complete your supervillain look, you can find them in Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
