A new crime thriller called Legends, similar in style to The Gentlemen, is coming to Netflix next month. An official release date has been confirmed.
Netflix announced today that the new series Legends will debut on May 7, 2026. Created by Neil Forsyth, who also made The Gold and Guilt, the show is inspired by real-life events. A trailer has just been released, giving viewers a first look at the upcoming series. You can watch the official trailer below.
I’m really hooked on this show, Legends. It takes place back in 1990s Britain, when drug trafficking was becoming a huge problem. What’s fascinating is how the authorities dealt with it – they didn’t send in special ops, but regular customs officers! They’d give them completely new identities – these ‘legends’ – and basically ask them to become criminals, living that life to get close to the drug gangs and take them down from the inside. It’s a really different take on the usual spy thriller; these aren’t slick, super-skilled agents, they’re just ordinary people thrown into incredibly dangerous situations, and that makes it all the more gripping.
I’m really excited about the cast they’ve assembled for this series! We’ve got Tom Burke, who I loved in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, playing a character named Guy. Steve Coogan (The Reckoning) is playing Don, and Hayley Squires (Beau Is Afraid) is Kate. Tom Hughes (The English) is Carter, and Aml Ameen (A Man in Full) is Bailey. Plus, Jasmine Blackborrow (The Gentlemen) is Erin, Douglas Hodge (Joker) is Blake, and Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow) plays Eddie. Gerald Kyd (The Assassin) is Mylonas, Numan Acar (Homeland) is Hakan, and Charlotte Ritchie (You) is Sophie. There’s also Joshua Samuels (The Gold) as Zeki, Kem Hassan (The Sandman) as Aziz, and Thomas Coombes (Baby Reindeer) as Shaun. It’s such a talented group, I can’t wait to see them all in action!
Neil Forsyth is the writer and creator of the series Legends. Brady Hood, known for Top Boy, directed the first four episodes, and Julian Holmes, who worked on Reacher, directed the remaining two. Ben Farrell joins Forsyth and Richard Bradley as executive producers, representing companies Tannadice and Lion Television, respectively. Charlie Leech is also a producer on the show.
Legends will debut on Netflix on May 7, 2026.
