Since its debut in 2018, Yellowstone has sparked a surge in popularity for neo-Westerns, as viewers have been eager for similar stories filled with power struggles, complicated family relationships, and morally grey conflicts. Now, Case Grande might be the answer, with early descriptions directly comparing it to the hit series and calling it a “Hispanic-influenced Yellowstone.”
Directed by Juan Pablo Arias Munoz, the film Case Grande tells the story of a daughter who returns home to her family’s farm when her father is seriously ill and facing challenges from business rivals. Directed by Juan Pablo Arias Munoz and co-written with a team of writers, Case Grande features a cast including John Pyper-Ferguson (known from Suits and Unforgiven), Madison Lawlor (The Conjuring: Last Rites), Christina Moore (That ’70s Show), Javier Bolaños (S.W.A.T.), Daniel Edward Mora (The Bridge), Loren Escandon (The Pitt), and Bruce Davison (X-Men). Notably, a star from Young Guns returns to Westerns as the film’s villain. Case Grande shares similarities with Yellowstone, but adds the compelling element of a daughter escaping danger. Fans of Yellowstone will likely enjoy this film while they wait for the next installment in that series.
Lou Diamond Phillips is well-known for his roles in Western films like Lone Rider, Big Kill, and The Trail to Hope Rose. However, he’s most famous for playing Jose Chavez y Chavez in the popular Western action movies Young Guns and Young Guns II. Although fans are still hoping for Young Guns 3 – a project Phillips has repeatedly confirmed is in development – it’s interesting to see him take on a villainous role, terrorizing the Clarkman family with threats and violence to steal their possessions.
