Jason Statham’s New Action Thriller Mutiny Gets Bloody First Trailer

The first trailer for Jason Statham’s new movie, Mutiny, is out now. The film will be in theaters this August.

Jason Statham continues to deliver the action-packed movies his fans love, following recent roles in films like Fast X, Meg 2: The Trench, Expend4bles, and The Beekeeper. This week, Lionsgate released a striking poster for his new film, Mutiny, hinting at a thrilling story of revenge on the high seas ahead of the trailer’s debut.

I just saw the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Mutiny, and it looks amazing! It seems like Jason Statham’s character, Cole Reed – he’s an ex-Special Forces guy and former cop – is really going to be put through the wringer. He’s been framed for murder and is determined to clear his name, and the trailer hints at a lot of intense action while he tries to uncover the truth.

The trailer suggests Cole will uncover a global conspiracy while trying to stop the murderer.

Check out the Mutiny trailer below:

The trailer starts by showing Jason Statham’s character, Cole, trying to rescue women and children trapped inside a shipping container at sea. He’s quickly discovered and ends up in a fight with those who imprisoned them.

He soon encounters his co-star, Annabelle Wallis, who immediately demands, “Who the heck are you?” Cole cuts to the chase, telling her that saving people should be their top concern.

When the sun rises, Cole realizes they’re “about to be short on time” as another vessel arrives.

“Make sure Cole Reed doesn’t survive this voyage,” a voice commands over the phone. This order seems to be the turning point as Cole finds himself stuck deep within the ship. Even while trapped, he continues to fight off numerous armed attackers.

Cole soon comes face-to-face with a man who angrily demands to know what he wants. Cole simply replies, “Vengeance.” What follows is a series of fast-paced car chases and violent gun battles.

The trailer concludes with Cole scaling a ship as the military rushes to respond to an emergency alert about an attack.

Jason Statham stars with Wallis, Jason Wong, Roland Møller, and Adrian Lester. Statham also produced the film alongside Marc Butan.

Jean-François Richet, known for directing action films like Assault on Precinct 13, Blood Father, and Plane starring Gerard Butler, directed Mutiny. The screenplay was written by J.P. Davis, who previously worked with Richet on Plane, and Lindsay Michel. Filming for the action thriller took place in the UK and Malta in late 2024.

Jason Statham is famous for action movies like Snatch, The Transporter, The Italian Job, The Meg, The Beekeeper, The Expendables, and multiple Fast & Furious films. Following his current project, Mutiny, he’s scheduled to appear in The Beekeeper 2, which is set to be released in January 2027.

Mutiny will be released in theaters on Friday, August 21, 2026.
