As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about the new X-Men reboot that’s in the works! One of the writers, Lee Sung Jin, recently shared what drew him to the project and, even more cool, revealed which mutant has always been his favorite. It’s great to get a little insight into the creative process already!
Lee Sung Jin talks about joining X-Men reboot
Lee didn’t think twice about joining the new X-Men movie. He told Variety he immediately accepted the offer, saying you can’t pass up an opportunity like that. He’s excited about the project because he’s a fan of the X-Men and impressed with the people working on it.
Lee is currently rewriting the script with Joanna Calo, and Jake Schreier is directing. They’re working closely with Marvel executives like Kevin Feige, and Lee described the creative process as a collaborative one, where the team constantly brainstorms and improves the story together.
Lee has a long-standing connection to X-Men. He grew up watching the cartoon and reading the comics with his father, and that personal connection is why he’s so dedicated to this new project. He says he deeply cares about these characters and feels privileged to be involved.
Lee Sung Jin names his favorite X-Men character
When Stan Lee was asked about his favorite X-Men, he didn’t choose the most popular ones like Wolverine or Cyclops. Instead, he preferred characters who weren’t always in the center of attention, and he shared that Gambit was one of his childhood favorites.
I was really excited to hear he’s a fan of Jubilee too! But he did emphasize we’re still in the very early stages of development. Apparently, nothing is set in stone yet, and the team is prioritizing nailing the story before moving forward with anything else. It’s good to know they’re focusing on getting that right.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about the upcoming X-Men movie. It seems like Marvel’s planning a big shake-up after Secret Wars, and this film is likely to be key in establishing what comes next. Plus, the writer is a lifelong X-Men enthusiast, which gives me a lot of hope that we’re going to get a truly fantastic reboot – one that really understands and respects these characters.
