The Pitt Paid Off Patrick Ball’s $80,000 Student Loans

A central theme in The Pitt is the heavy burden of medical debt and how it can discourage people from getting necessary care. But financial debt in general is a major problem in America. Patrick Ball recently told Cultured magazine that working on The Pitt allowed him to pay off $80,000 in student loans. He became emotional when recalling the relief he felt. “I paid off my student loans just three months into working on The Pitt, and that was a huge moment for me,” he said. “I honestly thought I’d be paying them off for the rest of my life. It’s a massive weight to carry, and so many people are dealing with it.”

Ball explained that his student loan debt significantly impacted his life, contributing to both stress and the end of several relationships. He felt his financial instability was a constant issue and feared it would always be that way. Finally paying off his loans was incredibly liberating. He remembers thinking that if his show succeeded, that was great, but even if it didn’t, no one could take away his newfound financial freedom – he was finally debt-free. Fortunately, the show was a critical and commercial success, and he even won an award for Outstanding Ensemble work.
