Marvel Introduces Advanced Iron Man Who Is Pure Evil, Villain Piloting Armor Revealed

Many villains who challenge Tony Stark attempt to defeat him with superior technology. However, this strategy usually fails because Tony isn’t just reliant on his powerful Iron Man armor – he’s resourceful and uses a variety of tools. But a new, advanced version of the Iron Man armor, controlled by a formidable Marvel villain, might finally prove to be a true challenge.

In Iron Man #4, written by Joshua Williamson with art by Carmen Carnero and Jan Bazaldua, Tony Stark has been captured by AIM and Madame Masque. The story revolves around AIM kidnapping scientists, hoping to find someone with Tony Stark’s genius to exploit for their own purposes. Tony was taken prisoner while attempting to save these scientists.

This issue sees Tony Stark plotting an escape from AIM headquarters alongside fellow prisoners. But an old foe is collaborating with AIM, hoping to demonstrate his superior technological skills. This villain has secretly been developing his own armored suit, which he calls the Advanced Iron Man. The story concludes with Tony, without his armor, facing this new danger.

Which Marvel villain is piloting Advanced Iron Man?

Paul Norbert Ebersol, better known as The Fixer, created the new Advanced Iron Man. He first showed up in Strange Tales #141 back in 1965. Originally a villain who designed weapons, he teamed up with Mentallo to fight SHIELD. Later, he struck out on his own, battling both Captain America and Tony Stark. But he’s probably best remembered as one of the founding members of the Thunderbolts, where he disguised himself as the hero Techno.

The comic concludes with a showdown brewing between the real Iron Man and a duplicate created by A.I.M. It looks like Tony Stark is starting the fight at a disadvantage, without any visible equipment, and still shaken by the recent, tragic death of a friend. But as Tony would quickly point out, his intelligence and strategic thinking are his most powerful assets – far more important than his suit of armor.

Iron Man #4 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
