I’ve mentioned this before, but 2025 has been an amazing year for horror movies. We’ve had everything from the deeply moving Sinners to the intensely exciting 28 Years Later and the wild ride that was Weapons. There are still some horror films to come this year, but I’m especially looking forward to seeing Coyotes. Speaking of great TV, while the last few seasons of The West Wing are often criticized, I want to highlight one fantastic episode from its final season.
Having personally encountered a few troublesome coyotes in the past, I’m very interested in the new horror film starring Justin Long and Kate Bosworth. The movie follows a family being pursued by these animals, and while it might be a little too realistic for my comfort, it definitely appeals to me. I’m excited for Colin Minihan’s next creature feature…
No Matter Where I Go, I Can’t Seem To Escape Coyotes
A few days ago, I was getting ready to let my chickens out of the coop and noticed my six hens were unusually agitated. I thought it was odd, but before I could even go outside, I spotted a large coyote just sitting and watching them as they panicked. This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered coyotes since I moved here three years ago; we often see them walking in the woods or hear them making a lot of noise whenever an ambulance siren goes off at night.
Things got even more intense when I lived in a small farming town in Illinois. I’ve had a lot of coyote encounters – from hearing stories about my father-in-law chasing them away from his pond, to seeing farmers hunting them in the fields, and even watching them run past my house. It seems like I really attract these large animals!

This Is What Makes Me So Excited For Coyotes
I’ve never had a scary encounter with a coyote myself, but I always imagine what it would be like to be chased by one. That’s honestly why I’m so hyped for Coyotes. When I saw the Coyotes trailer a few weeks back, I was immediately hooked. It promised a really wild, over-the-top, and darkly funny story about a family being hunted by a bunch of furious dogs, and the concept, along with the glimpses of brutal kills they showed in that two-and-a-half-minute trailer, totally blew me away.
This movie is wonderfully over-the-top. It’s packed with intense action – think tendons ripped out, fingers bitten off, and people catching fire – so expect some seriously brutal kills. Plus, there’s a character who strongly resembles Delbert McClintock from the scary Arachnophobia movie from the ’90s, which all adds up to a really fun experience.

However, Can Justin Long Survive Two Horror Movies In 2025?
Justin Long has appeared in many horror films, and his characters often meet gruesome ends. He’s become something like the Sean Bean of horror – from Jeepers Creepers to Barbarian, it’s a consistently funny trope in Hollywood. However, this summer he broke the mold by playing the father of a missing child in Weapons, which made me start thinking…
Do you think Justin Long’s character will make it through Coyotes? It seems unlikely we’ll get to see him in two movies this year without his character suffering a violent fate. I’m really hoping he survives, but honestly, it would also be pretty entertaining to see him meet a gruesome end.
I’m planning to watch Coyotes as soon as it’s released in theaters on October 3rd. I might also put the chickens back in their coop before I go, just to avoid any problems with my dog.
