Brie Larson Addresses Avengers: Doomsday Return

Following the huge success of the first Super Mario Galaxy Movie – which earned over $1 billion – Brie Larson is now joining the cast. Larson is well-known for leading roles in two successful Marvel films, so she’s no stranger to blockbuster hits.

Later this year, Marvel will release a new superhero film bringing together established Avengers and new faces from the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Brie Larson recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight and confirmed whether Captain Marvel will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Will Captain Marvel Join Avengers: Doomsday?

I remember being really excited when Brie Larson first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel back in 2019. That movie was a huge hit, grossing over a billion dollars! It was groundbreaking to finally see a female superhero leading her own Marvel film, and critics generally liked it, though audiences were a bit more lukewarm. She’s been back a few times since, popping up in Avengers: Endgame and even the Ms. Marvel series. But honestly, the recent sequel, The Marvels, didn’t quite capture the magic of the first film, and it wasn’t as well-received. It’s a shame, as I really had high hopes.

When asked if she might return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a three-year break following The Marvels, Brie Larson playfully responded, “Oh, you know I can’t talk about that. Nice try.”

Larson hasn’t revealed anything about her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following a pattern of avoiding answers to questions about upcoming Avengers films like Doomsday and Secret War. When asked, she simply stated, “I don’t have anything to say about that.”

Marvel Studios is famous for keeping things under wraps, and its actors have become accustomed to tricky questions from the press. Recently, an actress playfully acknowledged this when she shared a photo of herself heading to the polls while wearing a blonde wig. Even though she tried to conceal it with a hoodie, she jokingly told fans to “Ignore the wig!” with a shushing face emoji.

As a huge Marvel fan, I couldn’t help but notice the buzz around Brie Larson potentially reprising her role as Captain Marvel. She was spotted wearing a blonde wig, which immediately got everyone thinking she might be going back to her Carol Danvers look – especially since she’s currently sporting brown hair! What’s really interesting is that when asked about it, Brie didn’t exactly say ‘no.’ A straight denial would have just fueled the speculation, but her vague answer felt very on-brand for how Marvel usually handles these things. It’s definitely not a confirmation, but it’s making me think a return to the MCU is a real possibility, maybe in Avengers: Doomsday or another project down the line.

Avengers: Doomsday Brings Back Multiple Key Superheroes

With Avengers: Endgame concluding and Tony Stark’s character arc complete, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this time as the villain Doctor Doom. He’ll be going up against a much larger group of heroes, including the Avengers, the warriors of Wakanda, the Fantastic Four, the team from Thunderbolts, and the X-Men.

The movie will feature several key stars, including Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Letitia Wright as Black Panther, along with Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Tom Holland (Spider-Man) are likely to return, but their appearances haven’t been officially confirmed, and the same is true for Chris Pratt as Star-Lord.
