Taylor Sheridan’s New 13-Part Western Series Finally Dethrones Biggest Paramount Competition To Capture #1 Streaming Spot

Taylor Sheridan’s latest Western series, with thirteen episodes, has become more popular than any other show on Paramount.

Taylor Sheridan’s latest Western series has reached the top of streaming charts globally, a significant accomplishment it’s steadily worked towards. Sheridan has become a key creator for Paramount+, with popular shows ranging from the spy action of Lioness to the realistic, family-centered dramas of Landman and The Madison.

He’s most famous for the Yellowstone universe, which has expanded over eight years into several related shows, including both prequels and sequels. These shows tell the multi-generational story of the Dutton family, who own the Yellowstone Ranch, and their complicated past. Recently, one particular show within this universe has finally achieved the popularity it deserves.

How Marshals Slowly Became Paramount+’s Number 1 Show

The new series, Marshals, continues the story of Kayce Dutton after the events of Yellowstone. When the Dutton ranch reverts to the Broken Rock Tribe, Kayce deals with the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Monica. He then becomes a US Marshal, working cases throughout Montana to protect citizens and prevent serious crimes.

Despite first airing on CBS on March 1, 2026, the show Marshals didn’t immediately become the most popular title on Paramount+. However, it recently reached the top spot worldwide, according to data from FlixPatrol on April 7, 2026. Marshals has now surpassed South Park, which had held the Number 1 position for quite some time.

The show is now the most popular title on Paramount+, and it’s also reached number one in 11 countries around the world, including Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and El Salvador. This achievement comes even though critics have given the show mixed reviews, with a current score of 42% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It took a little while, but the show has become a hit on Paramount+, eventually surpassing even South Park in popularity. It was already popular, appearing in the Top 10, but now it’s firmly established as a key part of the Yellowstone franchise, consistently delivering strong results with its weekly Sunday night episodes.

Marshals Is A Glimpse Into Yellowstone’s Future

Season 1 of Marshals is only the beginning of where the Yellowstone universe is headed after the main series concludes. CBS has already renewed Marshals for a second season, which is planned to have more episodes than the initial 13. This signals a significant, long-term expansion of the franchise onto network television as the story continues.

However, Dutton Ranch isn’t the only new series connected to the original show. This Paramount+ series will debut on May 15, 2026, with its first two episodes, and will follow Beth and Rip as they start over with a new ranch. More shows are also planned, including a prequel titled 1944 and a spin-off series called 6666.

As a big fan of Sheridan’s work, I’m really encouraged by how well Marshals is doing! It’s great news for everything he’s built in his Western world, especially knowing he’ll be leaving Paramount in a few years. Honestly, I was worried about the future of the franchise after he’s gone, but Marshals‘ success makes me hopeful. If it can keep this momentum going, I think the universe has a really bright future ahead.
