‘Memory of a Killer’ Starring Patrick Dempsey Renewed for Season 2 by Fox

With warmer weather and TV seasons wrapping up, networks are deciding which shows to renew for the fall. Fox didn’t hesitate with Memory of a Killer, which finished its first season on April 6th. The show consistently gained viewers over its ten episodes, and has now been officially renewed for a second season.

The film Memory of a Killer is based on the 1985 novel The Alzheimer Case by Flemish author Jef Geeraerts. It stars Patrick Dempsey as Angelo Doyle, a hitman whose carefully separated professional and personal lives start to fall apart when he begins to show signs of Alzheimer’s disease – and someone attempts to harm his pregnant daughter. This story isn’t entirely new; the novel was previously adapted as a Belgian film in 2003 and as the 2022 film Memory, which starred Liam Neeson.

It’s clear audiences enjoy stories about hitmen with memory loss – a trend seen in films like Knox Goes Away, which gained a cult following after Memory. However, Memory of a Killer still took some time to find its audience, even with a prime premiere slot after the NFC championship game on January 25th. By the end of its first ten episodes, it had become a successful show on both broadcast and streaming platforms, quickly leading to a second season renewal after the finale.

Fox TV executive Michael Thorn announced the renewal of “Memory of a Killer,” calling it a standout show, according to Variety. He specifically praised the performances of stars Dempsey and Michael Imperioli, and credited Aaron Zelman, Glenn Kessler, and Warner Bros. Television with creating a compelling and emotionally resonant thriller that has clearly resonated with audiences. He expressed excitement about continuing that success with a second season.

Channing Dungey, head of Warner Bros. Television – the studio behind Memory of a Killer – announced the show’s renewal, praising its strong reviews, artistic quality, and popularity. She expressed excitement for the next season and what the show’s creators will bring to the continuing story of Angelo.

We don’t have a release date for Season 2 of Memory of a Killer yet. But while we wait, you can watch the entire first season on Hulu. There’s also the original Memory film starring Liam Neeson, the Dutch movie De zaak Alzheimer, and Knox Goes Away available to watch. If you’re looking for more to do, you could even try to find a translated copy of the book the series is based on before the new season arrives in the fall.
