MrBeast explains why it isn’t “feasible” to do Beast Games on YouTube yet as he’s prepping Season 3

Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast on YouTube, says he spends millions of dollars on storage for his Beast Games show footage. He explains this is to avoid losing large amounts of money again.

MrBeast’s Beast Games has proven to be a huge success, marking a significant step for a YouTuber into mainstream entertainment. Season two wrapped up in February, and planning for season three is already underway.

Donaldson has mentioned that maintaining the show has been more expensive than he initially anticipated. A storm in Las Vegas caused delays in filming the second season, resulting in daily losses exceeding $1 million for the YouTuber.

Despite support from Amazon and being shown on Prime Video, the show’s unexpected expenses have been a major problem for MrBeast and his team. Now that they’re planning season three, he’s determined to stop losing so much money on the production.

MrBeast spends “millions” just to store Beast Games footage

MrBeast recently told RHAP TV that storing all the footage from his videos costs him “millions” of dollars, and he’s not able to release it all on YouTube right now.

He explained that YouTube isn’t currently set up for in-depth, 10-episode narratives, and his priority is creating longer, more ambitious stories. He also pointed out that projects like ‘Beast Games’ wouldn’t be financially viable on the platform; the costs simply don’t add up.

The first season was incredibly expensive – you wouldn’t believe how much money we lost. I’m not willing to lose that much money again. YouTube simply isn’t the right platform for that type of content, even if we could afford it.

Okay, so MrBeast was saying he really gets his audience – like, better than anyone else, he thinks. But he admitted he was having a hard time figuring out what the contestants on Beast Games were thinking or doing. It’s funny, right? He knows millions of viewers, but these competitors are a whole different story!

He shared with Jon Youshaei that consistently working 15-hour days on Beast Games feels incredible, and he even uses a stunt double just for the photos used on his YouTube videos.
