The announcement trailer for NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 was taken down from YouTube because an Italian TV station used clips from it and then claimed those clips as their own copyrighted material.
In mid-March, NVIDIA announced an update to its DLSS 5 technology. DLSS, which stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling, uses artificial intelligence to make games look better. However, the announcement received a lot of negative feedback.
NVIDIA was really hyping up their new tech as a game-changer for graphics, calling it an “AI-powered breakthrough.” But honestly, a lot of us gamers just thought it looked…bad. We started calling it “AI slop” and felt like it disrespected all the hard work artists put into making games look good. It blew up as a meme online, and the CEO, Jensen Huang, basically brushed off the criticism. It was pretty frustrating to see, to be honest.
I noticed something really strange on April 4th – the announcement trailer for this thing had a copyright claim on YouTube! Apparently, an Italian TV station called La7 filed it, and everyone online was super confused, asking what was going on.
NVIDIA DLSS 5 video copyright striked by Italian TV
Apparently, La7 used video clips from NVIDIA and then filed copyright claims against people who were re-using that same footage, even if it was their own content.
That meant that NVIDIA’s own video had been caught up in the strikes and taken down by YouTube.
The video is still online, but you won’t be able to watch it because of a copyright claim by La7. A message will appear explaining this.

Other YouTubers affected by strikes
The issue isn’t limited to NVIDIA’s own videos; popular YouTubers DestinL and TheDezembro have also reported their videos being removed.
Honestly, the content detection system is a mess. I saw TheDezembro point out that it’s super easy to exploit, which is crazy! And DestinL is right – it should be obvious when something’s wrong just by looking at the dates. The whole system needs a fix, it’s just not thinking things through.
I had the same thing happen with my video – it was claimed and blocked in certain regions. I actually just posted about this yesterday. Their content detection system seems really flawed, and it’s easy for anyone to misuse it.

YouTube responds to DLSS 5 copyright strikes
YouTube has faced a lot of criticism for letting a television station control the footage and issue copyright claims.
YouTube addressed concerns raised by DestinL regarding Content ID. They stated that they have clear rules about how the system can be used and actively monitor it to ensure those rules are followed. YouTube warned that copyright holders who repeatedly make incorrect claims could lose access to Content ID and have their YouTube partnership canceled.
I can see why this is frustrating. For now, the best thing to do is wait for a response from the claimant, which should arrive within 30 days.
YouTube has clear rules about how its Content ID system can be used. They constantly check how Content ID is used and how disputes are handled to ensure everyone follows these rules. If copyright owners repeatedly make incorrect claims using Content ID, they risk losing access to the system…

It remains to be seen if things will be ironed out and the videos will return to being watchable.
