Role-playing games, or RPGs, consistently deliver the most entertainment for your time, often providing hundreds of hours of gameplay. And right now, a fantastic but often overlooked RPG is available to play for free, making it an incredible value.
Even if you don’t have PlayStation Plus, you can play this RPG on your PlayStation 5 for free. Originally launched in 2023, Throne and Liberty became available in regions outside of South Korea in 2024. It’s a great option for PlayStation fans looking for a new, free-to-play MMORPG.
Throne and Liberty Is a Free RPG On PS5
Throne and Liberty is a free-to-play MMORPG where you can participate in huge battles, shapeshift into different creatures, and combine weapons for devastating effects. Whether you enjoy cooperative adventures (PvE) like raids and dungeons, or competitive player-versus-player combat (PvP) where you can build alliances or fight your way to victory, there’s always something to do.
Looking for a relaxed gaming experience? Your home in Throne and Liberty isn’t just a building – it’s a personal space that evolves with your adventures. Will you play the game alone, or team up with friends to make your mark on the world of Solisium? The decision is up to you. Throne and Liberty blends the best parts of classic MMORPGs with fresh gameplay, offering depth and excitement around every corner. Assemble your guild, get ready to fight, and embark on a journey for the throne… and freedom!
Throne and Liberty, created by FirstSpark Games and published by NC Soft and Amazon Games, has a 3.47 rating on the PlayStation Store based on more than 16,000 reviews. The game is free for everyone to download, even if you don’t have a PS Plus subscription.
So, if you want to get a little extra out of the game, you can link your PlayStation Network account to your Amazon Games account. I did, and I got some cool stuff! It unlocked a Royal Crown Orb for my character, plus a couple of titles – “Well Connected” and “Homebody” – which are kinda fun to show off. I also got a cool pose emote, 1,000 Ornate Coins to spend, and a Noble Growthstone Chest to help level things up. Definitely worth doing if you’re jumping in!
Like many free-to-play role-playing games, Throne and Liberty offers optional in-game purchases that can give players a boost. There are currently eight different packages available, costing between $9.99 and $149.99.
You can download and try Throne and Liberty completely free, so you won’t lose any money if it doesn’t appeal to you. If you enjoy the game, it’s an incredible value – with both player-versus-player and player-versus-environment content, it offers over 300 hours of gameplay.
You can find more free-to-play games on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic. Throne and Liberty is also playable on Xbox Series X/S and Windows.
