Fans are getting ready for the return of Sydney Sweeney’s intense and provocative thriller series, which premieres in just over a week. The show originally burst onto the scene in 2019 as HBO’s most daring original series yet. Created by Sam Levinson (known for The Idol), it stars a talented cast including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Sydney Sweeney. After releasing its second season in 2022, the series is now gearing up for its third and final season – making it a great time to revisit or start watching this captivating show.
Lots of viewers seem to have followed that recommendation, with Euphoria quickly becoming one of the most-watched shows. Currently, it’s the fourth most popular series on HBO Max this week. Not only is Euphoria climbing the charts on the main app, but it’s also a hit for those watching through Amazon, where it ranks eighth. However, The Pitt, a highly acclaimed medical drama, is currently number one on both platforms.
Sydney Sweeney plays Cassie in Euphoria, a show about the difficult experiences of high school students – dealing with relationships, friendships, and discovering their sexuality. However, Euphoria takes these themes to an extreme level. Cassie, in particular, often acts selfishly and uses relationships to gain attention. Zendaya stars as Rue, a teenager battling drug addiction and getting caught up in criminal activity. Hunter Schafer plays Jules, a newcomer who struggles to stay true to herself while craving acceptance. And Jacob Elordi’s character, Nate, is quickly becoming one of the most disliked characters on television.
‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Is Making Some Big Changes
The highly anticipated third season of Euphoria starts April 12th, with new episodes coming out each week. Interestingly, the season will first premiere at the Coachella music festival before being available on HBO and HBO Max. Early trailers suggest the new season will have a noticeably different look and feel.
Without the show’s very stylized and visually suggestive look, Season 3 feels completely different from what came before. The characters have left high school and are now dealing with adult life and careers. Cassie is working as a social media personality, and Rue has become involved with dangerous people involved in drugs and loan sharking. This big shift in direction probably explains why it took four years to create the new season.
‘Euphoria’ Is Actually Based on Another Show

Sam Levinson is often credited with creating Euphoria, and he deserves recognition for his work on it. However, it’s important to note that he actually adapted the show, rather than creating it from scratch. Euphoria is based on an Israeli series of the same name, which originally aired in 2012. That version only lasted one season and received mixed reviews. Levinson took the basic idea – a story about dramatic teenage lives – and reimagined it for HBO with a high-profile cast.
