Daredevil: Born Again Images Reveal Netflix Heroes Will Finally Join the MCU

Be warned – the following contains spoilers for seasons 2 and 3 of ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘! The new season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is now streaming on Disney+, following Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he battles the villainous Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). This show is a continuation of the original ‘Daredevil’ series, which previously aired on Netflix for three seasons from 2015 to 2018.

The original Daredevil series was once part of a small-scale Marvel universe on Netflix, alongside shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. However, Disney canceled those shows when they decided to bring their properties back in-house. So far, Daredevil is the only one that’s returned on Disney+, but characters from those series are starting to reappear. Kristin Ritter, who played Jessica Jones, will appear in the new Daredevil: Born Again season, and now we know she won’t be alone – other familiar faces will join her eventually.

Variety reports that Mike Coulter and Finn Jones were seen filming with Kristin Ritter on the set of Daredevil: Born Again in Brooklyn on Friday. Coulter and Jones previously starred as Luke Cage and Iron Fist, suggesting that the show is bringing together the original Marvel stars from the Netflix series.

Don’t anticipate these returns happening immediately. Currently, only Jessica Jones from the original Netflix Marvel shows will be featured in this season of Daredevil: Born Again. We’ll have to be patient to see Luke Cage and Iron Fist (Danny Rand) reappear. However, Disney has consistently released new seasons of the show on a reliable schedule. With the first season premiering in 2025 and the second airing now, if filming for a third season is underway, we can likely expect it around 2027.

It’s currently unknown what Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will do as a team. They might join forces to oppose Wilson Fisk’s control as mayor of New York City. Alternatively, they could team up again to fight the Hand, the dangerous group they previously defeated in The Defenders. Like many villainous organizations in Marvel comics, the Hand doesn’t usually stay defeated for long.

Disney appears to be making a smart move by incorporating elements from the original Netflix Marvel shows. The first season of Daredevil: Born Again initially tried to move away from its roots, quickly sidelining familiar characters like Foggy Nelson and giving Karen Page limited screen time. However, season two is giving Karen a more significant role, and Jessica Jones is joining the cast soon. It seems they plan to lean even further into this approach in season three, and with the new season already performing well with viewers, it makes sense to build on that success.

New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 stream Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on Disney+.
