Gen V gets a disappointing update about when a new semester will start at Godolkin University.
As a fan of both The Boys and its spinoff Gen V, I’ve been keeping a close eye on where these stories are headed. Gen V season 2 wrapped up with Marie Moreau and her crew getting recruited by Starlight and A-Train to fight against Homelander – a fantastic cliffhanger! And the recent trailer for The Boys season 5 definitely confirms that Marie and Jordan Li will be back, thanks to a glimpse of London Thor. But here’s the big question: will Gen V get a season 3? Right now, that remains up in the air, and honestly, I’m hoping Vought decides to continue the story – it’s a world I definitely want to revisit.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Jaz Sinclair discussed the future of the Gen V series and what she’d like to see happen with her character, Marie. She revealed she hasn’t received any updates about a potential second season or the show’s overall direction. However, she expressed confidence in the writers, given the strong material they’ve provided so far, and hopes they continue to develop Marie as a complex and imperfect character. You can find her full comments below.
I have no idea what’s going to happen with my character, and that’s exciting! The writers are fantastic at taking characters on a journey, starting them in one place and ending them somewhere completely different. I hope they continue to do that, no matter what the storyline is. This season, I enjoyed seeing Marie make mistakes and trust the wrong people – I always love playing flawed characters. I prefer roles that feel real, with characters who make mistakes, because that’s how people are. I’m just hoping the writers keep giving me interesting and complex material to work with.
Sinclair’s comments have left the fate of Gen V unclear just before The Boys season 5 arrives on Prime Video. However, a third season isn’t necessarily off the table – it could still be announced after The Boys concludes. The final season of The Boys will undoubtedly change the world for characters like Marie and everyone else in the show.
Laz Alonso, known for his role as Mother’s Milk, suggested at Emerald City Comic Con 2026 that the story might continue with the shows Gen V and Vought Rising after the current series ends. However, since the main cast isn’t aware of any plans for a third season yet, it seems like a continuation isn’t happening immediately, and fans could be waiting a long time to see more.
Filming for another live-action series in The Boys universe, Vought Rising, finished earlier this year, and it’s expected to launch in 2027. According to the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, the extensive visual effects will take eight months to finish, and Amazon needs time to prepare the show for international release. Vought Rising started filming in 2025, following a two-year break between seasons four and five of The Boys. If a third season of Gen V is made, it probably won’t be available until late 2027 at the soonest, considering the second season’s episodes aired in September and October 2025.
Okay, so everyone’s wondering which of the Gen V crew might pop up in The Boys season 5 alongside Marie and Jordan, right? It makes total sense that some of her other friends from the Gen V finale could make the jump. I’m thinking Emma, Sam, Cate, and even Marie’s sister, Annabeth. We’ve actually seen Sam and Cate in The Boys already – they showed up in season 4 after becoming the new Guardians of Godolkin in Gen V’s first season. But things got complicated for them, so it’ll be interesting to see where their allegiances lie now.
Season 5 of The Boys will primarily wrap up the storylines of its main characters – Homelander, Annie, Hughie, Billy Butcher, A-Train, and others who’ve been with the show from the beginning. If you’re hoping to revisit the stories of Marie, Jordan, Emma, Sam, Cate, and Annabeth, that would require a third season of Gen V.
The Boys season 5 begins with a two-episode premiere on April 8 on Prime Video.
