Savannah Guthrie will return to Today on April 6th, two months after her mother, Nancy, disappeared. In a conversation with Hoda Kotb, Guthrie explained that while she’s still grieving, she feels a pull to return to work because the show feels like family. She wants to find joy again, seeing it as a way to honor her mother’s memory. While she’s unsure if she’ll immediately resume all of her co-hosting responsibilities, she wants to try to rebuild a sense of normalcy, even though she acknowledges she’ll be changed by this experience. She last appeared on the show in-studio on January 30th, just before her mother went missing.
Today airs on NBC beginning at 7 a.m. ET
