Season 3 of Tracker will explore more than just Colter Shaw’s (Justin Hartley) work finding missing people. CBS is now also focusing on his lawyer, Reenie Green (Fiona Rene), who has been part of the show since the beginning. Reenie’s role is expanding, like when she decided to start her own criminal law practice.
In Season 3 of Tracker, Reenie’s team looks mostly the same, though they’ve added Mel Day (Cassady McClincy Zhang) and a tech expert named Randy (Chris Lee) after Velma (Abby McEnany) and Bobby (Eric Graise) left. More significantly, Reenie herself has evolved, stepping beyond the boundaries of her previous role.
Reenie Green Is The Star Of Her Own Story In Tracker Season 3
I’m really enjoying Season 3 of Tracker, and I’ve noticed Reenie’s character getting a lot more attention – it especially stood out to me in Episode 14, “The Field Trip.” While the episode still centers around Colter and his case – finding a missing boy named Alex Clark, played by Kole Parks – Reenie finally gets a storyline that feels separate and uniquely her own, which is fantastic to see.
Okay, so in the latest episode, Reenie’s digging into a tip Mel uncovered about this new case they’re handling for an attorney named Maxine, played by Kathleen Robertson. It turns out the lawsuit—which they’ve been keeping pretty quiet—is an environmental one. It’s all about some seriously toxic conditions at a housing development called Elk Run Canyon, and it seems like they’re going after the real estate developer, Praiter, and his company, Rockwell Properties Group. It’s shaping up to be a really interesting case!
In “The Field Trip,” Reenie interviews the project manager for the new housing development while Tracker continues to focus on Green’s separate investigation. Reenie isn’t involved in Colter’s case; Shaw and Randy handle everything needed, allowing Green to take the lead in her own story.
Reenie interviews Kurtis Lauper, the manager of the Elk Run Canyon Housing Development, who suffered health problems after the project. Throughout the interview, Reenie passionately asks Kurtis to help her achieve justice for him. Her approach is reminiscent of the inspiring style of the TV show Matlock, and this segment gives her a chance to shine independently from the main case.
Reenie Green Could Lead Tracker’s First Spinoff Show
Reenie’s storyline is interesting, but it feels a bit separate from the main cases Colter usually handles. However, this shift might be intentional, suggesting CBS is exploring the possibility of a spin-off series focused on Reenie as the show grows. She could be a key character in a new direction for the franchise.
Although the show doesn’t have any spin-offs yet, creators have talked about introducing Russell Shaw. He’s Colter’s older brother, a former black ops soldier, and just as skilled at survival and operating outside the law. However, he approaches solving crimes in a very different way.
Although a potential show about Colter is in the works, a spinoff focusing on Reenie could be even more interesting. A Reenie-centered show could explore her career as a lawyer, adding a new dimension to the Tracker universe and allowing the franchise to delve into different types of stories. If that doesn’t happen, Tracker risks spreading its focus too thin by trying to follow both Colter and Reenie.
Season 3 of Tracker delves deeper into the aftermath of Green’s kidnapping, which happened while he was working with Leo Sharf. The season also explores Reenie’s personal journey, showing her taking up boxing as a way to become more self-sufficient and learn how to defend herself, starting in Episode 13.
If Tracker decides to focus on Reenie’s story with her own legal show, Green could still be on the original series, but it’s more probable that Hartley’s character would take her place. However, with Randy assisting Colter, Reenie might be able to continue in a smaller capacity on the original show, similar to how she was featured previously.
